Well, I will keep this short but to the point.

*Graphics- 10

*sound- 9

*game play- 9

*re-playability- 8

*overall- 9+

I love this game!!! Finally they have got it right. The last few Star Trek games have been lacking in many ways as you probably already know. Mabey it is the power of the 360 console, but everything seems to flow smoothly. Fantastic colors dazzle the screen while thunder from explosions rack your senses.
Star Trek fans will not be dissapointed. The ships and environments look fantastic.
Oh yeh, back to "I'll keep it short". This is sure to be a keeper.

About As AVERAGE As You Can Get
Review created: 05/14/07
7 of 8 people found this review helpful.

Graphics 5/10

The graphics are average in my opinion, you are presented with 3-D models of the ships, and the game focuses on them during the course of the entire campaign. You can't zoom in very far on them, and it's a shame because you'll be looking at them a lot. The space backdrops actually look pretty nice, as far as what you can do with space. Colorful nebula's and lot's of planets and moons inhabit your game playing space. But that's pretty much all there is in the graphics department. When you destroy something it gets a little pologony, huge blocks just kind of get sprayed outward, not the best way to destroy something, but it gets the basic job done I guess. Cut scenes are nothing more than the camera being fixed on your ship while the captain's voice is talking about his current objective, or the reason for your current conflict. So you have ships, and space backdrops. Not much else to the game, except the mini map screen, which I'll get to later.

Storyline 4/10

There isn't much of a story to this game, despite it having a campaign mode. There is a story to be sure, but it feels tacked on, because your story has to span 5 generations of captains. Captain Janeway, Captain Kirk, Captain Picard, Captain Sisko, and Captain Archer, those are not necessarily in the same order you play them as in the campaign. It does try to remain linear, but without giving away to much of the plot, it's basically your enemy setting up some sinister plot way in the beginning of the game. She runs away, you chase her with another captain. She runs away again, you chase her again. You repeat this process until the end of the campaign where you finally face off in a massive space battle. During the campaign you will face a host of enemy ships, ranging from the Klingon, to the Romulan, to the Borg. I liked the fact they used all the captains, but I would rather see one solid cohesive story from a no-name captain than a disjointed story for the sake of using the celebrities.

Gameplay 5/10

As far as gameplay goes, it's pretty basic. You control your ships in full 3D space. Only there's not much reason to fly along the Y axis, because most of the action takes place for the most part at a predetermined altitude. There are a couple of fetch missions that have you utilize the Y axis, but they are scarce, and go by quickly.

Overall 5/10

Overall it was a decent game. But it could have been so much more. It was far too basic and simple to draw you in completely like I had hoped it would. If all of the elements had been fleshed out a little more then I could see this game getting a much higher score. But it seems like they got the concept down, and then just ran out of steam and implemented them without the zest it deserved. If you're a fan of Star Trek, then this game will probably whet your next-gen appetite for a Star Trek game. But if you're a casual fan, then this game won't do much to increase your interest in the Star Trek universe. At the end of the day, it's just a bunch of good idea ingredients thrown into a pot, but missing all the flavor it deserves.

It certainly beats the prior Star Trek offerings. The Graphics, Sound and Cinematics are superb!!! No doubt about it...

The details are simply amazing. The space environments have nebulas, wormholes, planets, and stars all in 3D!

You can command whatever fleet you want: the Federation, Klingon, Romulan or Borg.

Finally the XBOX Live Multiplayer is too Robust. You can go from low-key engagements to a full-scale war involving multiple systems.

Another XBOX 360 must have for this year 2007!!!

Good game, but play and tell the whole Star Trek story.

I just purchased Star Trek: Legacy for the XBox 360. This game has excellent graphics and the battle scenes are amazing but that is all there is.(And these are totally external with no boarding action.) Star Trek is more than just fight the bad guys. It is exploring the galaxy and meeting new species. It is beaming down away teams to new worlds and solving ancient mysteries of long dead civilizations. I realize that in this fast pace world that most gamers want to blow something up but there are those of us who still enjoy a good mystery. Think of it in terms of an old video game called "Starflight". Even with the limited technology of the time (some 20 years ago), someone was able to produce a space game for the Sega Genesis that spanned hundreds of systems, 8 species (including human), planetary exploration and mining, search for lost artifacts, and space combat. With today's PS3 and XBox 360 technology we should be able to do that and more. Stop substituting a good storyline and mystery for how many ships and aliens we can blow-up. I would like to think that we are more than just our primal urges to see something blow-up, or according to Jeff Foxworthy, something naked. If you want to make a great Star Trek game please remember that Star Fleets first priority is to "Explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, and to boldly go where no man or no one has gone before". Trust me, if you follow true Star Trek lore you will eventually get to blow something up. Let's get a little more cerebral and a little less brutish. As for why did I buy the game. I am a big Trek fan but one of things that drew me to the show as a boy was the new encounters and the mysteries just as much as the space combat. In fact, in the original series there were only three shows that featured actual combat as a central theme. "Balance of Terror" with the first visual contact of a Romulan, "The Doomsday Machine" with Commadore Decker and the USS Constellation, and the one episode (I cannot remember the name off the top of my head) that had the Klingons fighting the Enterprise crew on board the ship with sword starring Michael Ansara as Capt. Kang. The other combats that took place were part of the storyline but not central to the story itself and even with the Kang episode they realized they were being manipulated by an outside force and ended befriending the Klingons. I recommend this game to anyone who enjoys good strategic ship-to-ship combat but it falls short beyond that. Please create a good mystery, let us explore the galaxy, let us truly live the full Star Trek adventure. Thank you.

  Star Trek: Legacy

Being a Trekkie, it automatically gets a certain level of "good" just because of the title. That being said, for a Star Trek game it is a pretty decent game. Their is a long story line, and the levels are fairly long. The game lacks a decent "Save Game" ability. You have to wait until each level is completed to Save, which is a pain since some of the levels take about a hour to complete. Asides from that there is plenty of outer space fighting to help keep you entertained. You do have fleet control, which is acctually kind of below par in regards to the AI. At times its almost better to leave your fleet behind, take one ship in do damage, retreat, start repairs, and take another ship in for a run.

Good game if you are a Trekkie. Not the best Star Trek game ever created though.

The Next Generation of Fun Goes Warp 9.
Review created: 02/22/08
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

If you're like me, then you're probably a sci-fi nut or fan. That having been said, it's been a long time since a good space-aged futuristic ship simulator came out. When Interplay's Starfleet Academy arrived a decade ago, it was considered golden and worthy of play over and over.

Then Klingon Academy emerged, using the same engine. It brought great appeal to many Star Trek fans, and then, nothing. Interplay released small titles here and there, but they needed something to bring life back into a fading series.

For those of you who followed "Star Trek Enterprise" until it was cancelled, this game will more than likely be a godsend in the form of a disc. The graphics are rendered beautifully, the storyline is captivating and the voice acting, while not exactly on par for some of the voice talents, is what we've come to expect from a Star Trek game.

One amazing advancement in the Star Trek series was featured in Klingon Academy, when operatic music was introduced. Fully orchestrated magic brought you into the game and made you feel like a Klingon Warrior. This tradition was passed down into Legacy, and the music alone was more than enough reason to keep that controller in hand.

If I had to select one pet peeve about the title, it would have to be the machine requirements to play it. You need a very fast, moderately powerful computer to play the PC version, which is why I am auctioning my copy on eBay. However the XBOX 360 gaming console has the power to deliver the goods in more ways than one. You are literally submerged into a Star Trek movie of your own, battling the Borg in a cooperative attempt to defend Bajor and Deep Space Nine, or reliving elements such as movie scenes from titles like "The Wrath of Khan".

In Star Trek Legacy, the galaxy is your oyster, so long as your computer is capable of handling the intense processing load. The controls are smooth, the action is intense at times and you almost feel as if you are sitting in the Captain's Chair. You are in command. Engage at Warp Nine.

The multiplayer and skirmish aspects allow you to jump right into the mess and begin playing with other players through XBOX Live and the Internet, or against computer controlled ships and fleets. You can even make things interesting and take ships from one era and pit them against ships from another. Ever wanted to see if Captain Archer's Enterprise could take out Captain Kirk's Enterprise? Then this is your time loop. Make it so, and boldly go where no man or woman has gone before.

The graphics. Who can forget the graphics? For a good point of reference on the graphics, try to imagine Deep Space Nine during the last three seasons, when the Defiant was weaving through ships and delivering a powerful payload of weapons. It was all beautiful! Now YOU have the ability to do the same thing!

The captains are united in this game. Captain Archer in the NX-01 Enterprise, Captain Kirk in the Enterprise A, Captain Janeway in the stranded Voyager, Captain Sisko in the powerful Defiant, and Captain Picard of the Enterprise D and E have given their voice talents to this game, making for an interesting and highly interactive title.

All in all, Legacy gets a 5 out of 5 on my charts. Highly playable, addicting and fun for many people, including those who are not yet into Star Trek. I hope to see some of you out there on XBOX Live!

Well, they had the opportunity to make a true classic, instead this version of Star Trek falls far short. Poor controls and suboptimal story line leave much to be desired. I can tell you, if I am in command of a starship...the fight should take place from the bridge....not some third person point of view. Add in the cheap looking graphics and suboptimal maps and controls, and you have an adequate picture of this game. Once again us Microsoft fans are taking it on the chin and in the pocket. Look elsewhere, there many better choices. hopefully, sometime in the near future, we will get a version that plays as a cahmpion series should...................

Excellent graphics. The individual missions aren't the games selling point. The missions are slow and you can't save the game anytime you want. The Xbox Live game play is the best feature of this game.

The Xbox game I bought used. However the game is in excellent condition and came very well packaged and arrived in resonable time. I bought the game cause I'm somewhat of a sci fi person and even though I have not played the game all the way through to the end, I have started and what I have played I have enjoyed. Its pretty much what I thought it would be. I would buy from this seller again.

The shipping and communication were great! But the item was described as being in very good condition, when i opened it, there was a scratch ring around the back of the disk. at first it wouldn't work. I tried a different Xbox, just to make sure that mine was working ok. it only started to work after i repeatedly clean the disk with various methods. it worls now but some times the game will stop and i have to start over.

Review created: 11/09/08

I have the PC game also and like it and I wanted to see the quality in the XBOX 360 on my HDTV and how the game controller is play with the game. The whole game you play as the ships first Enterprise and others Enterprise in the future. It’s seem more enjoyable being the ship as to I enjoy watching the shows and the ships destroy or disable others ships. Pros good story and if you get the controller down you could have a good game(Practices). Con, not the same quality spaces and ship as the show.

Warning: Poisonous amounts of suckage in the warp core!
Review created: 10/22/08
by:

Don't get me wrong: Star Trek is a really cool series. I love Voyager and TNG and I was excited they finally made a next-gen game. So TV shows= Good! Star Trek Legacy? Not so much. Legacy does everything wrong. The game controls are terrible. The features are bland. The warp drive is broken. The difficulty is uneven, and this is the big one. Can the developers please explain why I can beat gears of war on insane by myself, but I can't beat the first level of legacy on Ensign? What the heck? There is something wrong. The first level is impossible I'm telling you. I finally chucked my case in anger after an hour of trying to beat the first level. It sucks so much I won't put it on ebay! Throw in a retarted online mode and no 2-player and you have a core breach in progress!

OVERALL 3/10
