Although Star Fox Adventures had a small part that had the player flying the Arwing, what I really wanted was a game more like Star Fox 64. Nintendo finally replied with Assault and I am indeed impressed. The Star Fox team is back together and with a new member Crystal and with good voices. I have never thought Slippy and Peppy sounded this good in a while. The remains of Andross's troops are finally being cut down to the last few and Star Fox has been called by General Pepper to help out. Suddenly, a deadly new enemy emerges from the depths of space and starts reeking havok. You are back in the cockpit, but you can get out (actually you usually start out on foot) and can become a trigger happy lunatic as you murder of legions of enemies. The game also has some very dramatic moments. There is one scene where you may actually cry because an old friend is sacrifising himself to help you go forward with the mission. The only real downside to the game is that the on-foot controls can be hard to handle. You can easily get used to them with practice though. I recommend you at least rent it if you are not sure about it.
