In Star Fox 64, you play the role of Fox McCloud, and you must fight your way through this exciting space shooter in order to stop the evil Andross from ruling the galaxy. This is the 2nd N64 title that Shigeru Miyamoto worked on, the first being Super Mario 64. Just about any game Miyamoto is involved with has become an instant success, and this is no exception. Star Fox 64 is the sequel to Star Fox, which is a title on the SNES. You fight your way through many different stages, and in most stages, you must fight a boss at the end to complete the stage. With pristine graphics, superb gameplay, and a magnificent story, Star Fox 64 has earned its title as one of the most successful titles on the N64. Definitely pick up a copy if you have a Nintendo 64.

Gameplay - Star Fox plays surprisingly very well. I still can't get over it. When I heard about the all stylus controls, I was very worried. I totally wrote this game off as gimmicky, touch screen thing that will fail, but I was wrong. The touch screen actually makes flying easier and a lot of fun. The basic gameplay is broken up in to two parts, an overworld strategy map and full 3D battle maps.
In the overworld screens, your objective is to destroy enemy fighters and bases, while protecting your mothership. It is fun to draw out your ship's courses and then preform the attack on the opposing force. During the actual fights, the stylus is your control tapping the screen to boost, break, turns, drop bombs and perform the famous barrel roll. Then only other button needed is the fire button which is mapped on everything besides start and select, so it is easy to find something comfortable. The control is very tight and it is amazing that this game just handles so very well. Also it is very easy to learn. Once you do the 4 training missions, you will pick up on the controls in no time.
The multiplayer works the same way both local and over the Nintendo Wifi Connection and is very strong. In all multiplayer modes, players are only allowed to be Fox and are given just one ship. Some might think of this as bad, but I really like it because it balances out the game so much. I liked the wifi play because of an easy to use ranking system with 26 ranks, (Z being the lowest and A the highest) and good punishment against disconnecters. It is good to see that if someone drops, no one plays, which really prevents people from skipping out.
Graphics - Best on the DS to date, period. The ships look great and the different stages have such high quality textures. I love it.
Sound - I have said it before, I love animalese from Animal Crossing and I love it here in Star Fox: Command. The blaster shots and space noises are fine, but nothing beats the animal nonsense. It will make you smile. Plus it is a really cool option that you can import your own voice as the character's voice and tone.

Starfox 64 has a relatively bland single player campaign that gets very old ofter the first two missions. The only high point of this game is the multiplayer that can be a VERY good time when 4 players are connected. Overall, buy this game for the multiplayer experience.

I loved this game years ago when I first played, however, I always had to play at a friends house as I did not own an N64 myself. I had completely forgotten about it until I saw it on eBay. The graphics were wonderful back then, and once you get the controls straight, it's a wonderful, challenging game. It isn't difficult to kill the bosses at the end of each stage and if you can't figure it out, members of your 'team' will tell you clues on how to kill them. Overall, it's a wonderfull game with interesting characters. A favorite for many who grew up playing the 64.

Fox is back in this adventure for the N64. And it's all flying baby. Well mostly flying. There are a few submarine levels. That's pretty much flying too though. The game is short for real though. You can play through it in just one sitting of a few hours if even. Multiplayer is not the best but it can be fun with a few people. Honestly, this is one of your only choices for flying games on the N64 and it is at the top of a short list. Controls are solid and barrel rolls are a ton of fun and a necessary skill to possess to keep from dying so much. Experience space flight like never before on a 64-bit system. Fly into battle with classic characters and defeat the evil Andross (dude is huge). Pick this up if you like flying games or if you're a Star Fox fan. Great character game for the N64. 4/5

StarFox 64 was always a great game, and still is to anyone who enjoys fast-paced shoot-em-up style games. The controls are easy to learn and remember, and the difficulty level (for the most part) is just right-not too easy or hard. Even when the game shifts its focus, the story is easy to follow, even for beginners to the series. Tips and hints are displayed onscreen to help you progress through the level, as well. StarFox 64 also excels in the visual department, with bright, colorful graphics that are sometimes hard to believe on the N64. The game also incorporates a multiplayer mode, as well as a training mode to hone your piloting skills. Also worth mentioning is the very high replay value, as triggering different events while progressing determines which levels are unlocked. All of these features add up to a 9 out of 10 for this title. There isn't really any problems big enough to hinder the enjoyment of this game.

) I'm assuming that this game is amazing because it was a suprise gift for my boy friend and he was really excited about it. Me, personally haven't played the game in a long time so I barely remember it. We've recreated a n64 from parts online and good will lol. It seems fun. Fox was so kick-butt in super smash bros, so this game MUST be great. Lol. I know it's not much of a review and it's okay it you want it deleted. I don't mine. :D

I loved this Game when I used to own it. Though I was like 10 when it came out so I never really got good at it so I when I saw an oppertunty to own it again i jumped at the chance. I have gotten all the metals in both the main game as well as the expert level. Was in Great shape and haven't had a problem yet.

) Starfox pushed the envelope for graphical standards on the SNES. Starfox 64, the successful sequel, does the same for the N64. Starfox 64 is the source of the popular internet meme (viral phrase) "Do a Barrel Roll!" The game itself is a smoothly executed rail shooter much like the original, but with added characters, such as StarWolf, Pigma, and ROB-64; and new vehichles, such as the Landmaster (a futuristic tank) and even a submarine. This game introduces a combo system, and utilizes a new capability of the "Arwing" (the star fighter), charging of shots. It also introduces fully three dimensional boss battles, free-flying instead of constantly moving forward. It also features actual voice acting for the dialogue instead of garbled animal noises. Truly, Starfox 64 is the reason why many people bother even getting an N64, which had very few memorable titles.

Starfox 64- Great nintendo 64 gameI have always liked this game when I was younger, and I always played it. I sold off a lot of my old games back then, and I recently had the urge to play this game. I bought this game because I simply wanted to play it. One down side to this game is it is short, you can beat the whole single player level in a half hour or so. It makes up for that by making multiple paths you can take in that mission.
The multiplayer is fun too..
this is a must have n64 game in my oponion. If you have a 64, and still play it,, snag this title.
