Dee Dee King aka Dee Dee Ramone
Review created: 03/16/09

Dee Dee King as we all know is the one and only Douglas Colvin aka Dee Dee Ramone. The 'Standing in the Spotlight' album from 1989 is his 'rap' album. Pretty different from all his other records but still unmistakably Dee Dee. If you like his stuff with the Ramones (and his other solo albums) you will like this - regardless of the style of music on this disc. The original version of 'The Crusher' is here (Ramones version on the last Ramones studio album - Adios Amigoes) and for my money the best track on here - full of Dee Dee's excellent sense of humour. Someone should remaster this cd and reissue it - it's been out of print for far too long. I miss the Ramones and I miss Dee Dee - the music world is a darker place without them.

This album is absolutely terrible. But if you're a fan of Dee Dee, it's a must have. Mashed Potato Attack is a rip-off of Monster Mash. A lot of the songs aren't even raps... they're just Dee Dee songs.

Dee Dee Ramones is a great artist and everything he's done in hes career is also great. Dee Dee King was his name when, for a short period after he left the Ramones, he became a rap artist. He released one single (Funky man) and this album. Although it's supposed to be a rap album, it has a few songs that are very simillar to his work with the Ramones.
Once he sad about this time that he couldn't sing rap , because he was not a nigger.
Anyway, I think it's a great album. It was not released here in Brazil, so I had to find it in ebay.
