US Scouting Collectibles - basic reference for traders

For those who collect or trade scouting memorabilia it's an excellent reference book. It's good for the person who has some knowledge in the subject. It does not cover girl scouts or girl guides. It does not detail local insignia.
A while back I ran into this book at the bookstore for the first time. I showed it to a friend of mine and he wanted one too. So I went back to the book store and they didn't have any more. Well, then I found it on eBay and noticed it was a lot cheaper.
+ What makes the book so great? It's a quick reference for general scouting items. It makes dating an item really easy because it helps refresh your memory. The pricing is okay, I've had some where the book was really low and others where the book was a little high. In all collectibles from my experience price guides get a lot of lee way because of market demand fluctuations (i.e. people wanting the item). I take it with me to local trade-o-rees (scouting memorabilia shows) and people are always borrowing it.
- What are the drawbacks? 1) Would love to see more pictures. I've had about 5 items where a picture would have been more useful. 2) More information on Scout rings and Eagle rings. 3) A better index for faster look up.

It's not a real good book for local insignia (CSP, Community Strips), and it shouldn't be. It does cover a little bit of local insignia, but only as sampling of what is out there. There are other books that cover local insignia better.
This book, unlike many others, serves a needed purpose in the general reference for traders, dealers, and collectors of scouting items.
