Misleading Title
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.
This book is a collection of reproduced advertisements and product brochures for some of the most popular silverplate patterns of the late 19th and 20th centuries. While these are potentially interesting to collectors, it is misleading to call this book an encyclopedia. Little information is given in most instances, although the section on the "Coronation" pattern has about a page of text, and the author has a few things of interest to say about grape-themed patterns. But if you are looking for a reference book on silverplate. or even an easy-to-use identification tool, this is not the book for you. The value guide is sketchy and in any case very outdated.
