  THE Bible of Smith &Wesson

If you want to collect, shoot or just are interested in learning everything you'd ever want to know about Smith & Wesson handguns and products; BUY THIS BOOK.

From the earliest days to recent S&W products, the pictures and in-depth descriptions leave no stone unturned in the pursuit of knowledge about one of the worlds greatest handguns. The authors are lifelong S&W devotees collectors and historians and present a passionate and deep study of all S&W guns in a very easy to pour-over reference type format.

The price guide will put you in the ballpark, but alas, real world prices always seem to be higher.

Techinical details and anecdotes on each and gun are wonderful. Studying the pictures and comparison photos between model revisions combined with the authors intelligent, careful and sometimes whimsical take at a great American historic firearms company, will certainly make you enjoy this book, but with greater study, quite possibly will make you an expert on the subject.

  Worthwhile addition to your library

The Good: This is probably the best reference book of its type on the subject, and very fun and informative. They cover every model, including some very obscure ones. The serial number/production date charts are worth the price of the book by themselves. The Bad: Many of the photos are too small to see the differences they are trying to illustrate. I found 3 typos only 75 pages into the book. A little surprising for a 3rd edition. I could do without the section on knives (most of the modern ones are junk) and some of the other items if it meant better photos of the guns. Overall a good book well worth having.

Great book with lots of info. If you are a S&W collector you should not be without this book. In today's market a gun is worth what you can get out of it. The price guide is a starting point and should reflect what you would like to sell it for. I have been paying less that the book calls for lately.JAY frames have all but dryed up and seem to hard to find NIB.
