Srv [Box] by Stevie Ray Vaughan (CD, Nov-2000, 4 Discs, Legacy Recordings)

This 4-disc set is a SRV enthusiast's dream. Because of his untimely death, we only a limited body of work to enjoy, so when they pull out some alternate takes and unreleased songs or songs released with other artist, one gets to hear new aspects of his musical richness. Along with alternate takes of some of his most awesome songs are some real gems and rocking duets. This really shows SRV's great diversity and great talent. The first three discs are full of unreleased goodies, alternate takes and some really awesome sound checks. The fourth disc, a dvd, is an unreleased Austin City Limits footage disc, which is awesome. Here you are able to see upclose some of his blistering finger work and just how truly talented he was. He even breaks a string in one of the songs and gets a new guitar and doesn't miss a beat. It's really amazing. SRV was truly one of the great guitar players of our time and his genius and ability shine through is this excellent offing of the late genius work.

With 49 songs plus the dvd with 6 more and a booklet with extensive info on Stevie Ray this collection is Fantastic! Many of the peformances are live and previously unissued which makes this The Must Have for any Stevie Ray Fan! The booklet contains many interesting facts and comments about Stevie Ray and it is loaded with pictures.... Satisfaction value - Priceless!!

This box set is a true treasure cove of rare outtakes and previously unreleased material, all worth listening to over and over again. The dvd is for me worth the price of admission alone. It has several unreleased tracks from his now historic appearance on Austin City Limits that is just absolutely mind blowing. I don't know why it wasn't released on the original, marketing I suppose. If you are a diehard SRV fan, you need to get this...it's worth the money.

I liked how it was fast shipping and I love to listen to SRV and this box set is very hard to find and expensive when you do find it.

My husband is a long time fan of SRV and thought he had everything the man ever recorded then he ran across some music sites that mentioned a few songs he had not heard he then tried to find them on a every music website out there and had NO LUCK so when he purchased this box set he was happy that he had finally found those songs he'd wanted here...then the CD's arrived and he was floored to find a couple of songs he had NEVER even read about that were recorded on this set! so if you are or know a Stevie Ray Vaughan fan this is a MUST HAVE for their collection- Oh and to all the word police out there please over look my miss-spellings I'm a wife and mom w/ a college degree but I still can't spell to save my life :)

This box set is a must have for blues fans and SRV fans. Even if you have all of his songs already, you need this because you know how Stevie almost never played a song the same way twice. Included is of course the DVD of the Austin City Limits outtakes. There are about 5 more songs he does on this DVD which is nice. But, if you go on YouTube, anyone can see there is a ton of vintage SRV video out there that has NOT been released to the general public. Maybe Sony is to blame? We love you so much Stevie!

I am a big fan of the blues and Stevie Ray Vaughan and his older brother Jimmy Vaughan are from the same part of Dallas as I am ( Oak Cliff) and we share the same last name and I used to go to Keist Park in Dallas to watch them perform for free when they were just starting out so to say I am a big fan is putting it mild.

My husband is a musican and loves SRV he was like a kid in a canydstore when he saw how complete the selection was.
