Spongebob Squarepants - Season 4: Vol. 1 (DVD, 2006, 2-Disc Set)

Spongebob is NOT the same, it lack the Ha Ha funny as seen in vol. 1-2. Season 4 is a half heart down right lazy attempt to repeat the belly grabbing laughter as to the seasons previously without the effort. It seems that the creators/writters have gotten lazy with season 4. Its still funny but not Ha ha funny.

I grew up watching Spongebob Squarepants, and it's unfortunate it has taken a downward spiral starting with Season 4. Sure, the show is still much better than most of the other crap you'll find on television today targeted towards kids (with the exception of Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends), but otherwise it just doesn't meet the standards that the previous 3 seasons set. The reason Season 4 is so horrible is probably because the expectations are just too high after 3 terrific seasons. It does have its moments though, even if they are very, very brief.


As I understand it, Stephen Hillenburg (creator) 'jumped ship' and isn't part of the show anymore. That could explain how quickly the show took a turn for the worst.

If you're looking to buy your first Spongebob DVD, get one of the first three seasons. If you have everything but Season 4, you might as well complete the collection. Let's hope Season 5 reverses the current trend of spiraling down into the abyss of hell from its once dominant status.

If you like Spongebob you'll love this. I like the older spongebob better. But still a great dvd to add to your collection.

seasons 1-3 were way better. they were much funnier and the storylines weren't as complex. the characters are too exagerated and few episodes are funny. get season 1,2, or 3 because the episodes are way better.

Even though it's only HALF a season, still has some of the more recent great classic SB episodes. Included are some of my very favorites:

Shell of a man where Mr. Krabs molts his shell and spongebob wears it to Krabs Navy reunion

Lost Mattress, love it cause Squidward keeps trying to make SB and patrick BAIT for the guardworm but it keeps backfiring.

Hav U Seen this Snail? double episode is OK but not a big fave

Dunces and DRAGONS! Instead of buying the DVD mix with this episode, this one alone makes it worth the price. MUST SEE for any SB fan.

Squidbob Tentaclepants - SB and Squidward morphed together with Sandy's teleport machine!! ANOTHER all-time TOP epsiode

KRUSTY TOWERS - Also an all-time GREAT EPISODE.

NOT as good a value as the full season DVD sets from Season 1.2 and 3

Season 4 was the first time they split the DVD set into two halves but definitely worth the price.

Don't believe a negative word you hear about SpongeBob Season Four! My kid is as engrossed in this series as he was with the previous three! My personal favorites are indeed some of the older episodes, but this one's sea-worthy as well!

Both my children and I enjoy watching Spongebob. However, season 4 was not as funny as the previous seasons in my opinion. Still a great season, but, not LOL funny.

I grew up with this yellowy sponge, i'm glad they're finally releasing seasons! All I gotta say, SpongeBob can make a grown man cry, of laughter.

Spongebob is probably the best cartoon out there. That is all my kids watch. I believe its the greatest cartoon ever created in the 21st century. I promise your kids will love it.

I still haven't figured out why Season 4 is divided into two separate volumes, but either way the season is great. My kids are Spongebob fanatics!

My son loved this movie, ofcourse sponge bob gets a little old with any adult. But. there is some funny shows for the whole family to watch. I would recomend it.
