Spider-Man: Web of Shadows (Playstation 3, 2008)

I really enjoyed the game. At times the story will stray too far from what I know and expect in the world of Spider-Man. I have not read any of the comics in recent years but seeing Mary Jane with a shotgun doesn't seem right. Some of the side missions seem a bit teadious but you don't have to do them. Like most games it has some annoying parts but overall I think it is the most enjoyable Spider-Man game I have played.
If you are a Spider-Man fan that doesn't mind a story that breaks from the comics, then it is a good buy. If you are not a Spider-Man fan and are judging the game simply on story & gameplay it is probably a C, but as a Spider-Man game it is more like a B+.
I am looking forward to playing it again to see the other endings.

This was a great game to play. I never really had to much respect for Spiderman as a superhero, until I played this game.

This 1 Player game is not bound by limits and you can pretty much go anywhere you want in the game. The story line was long enough where you didn't have to worry about beating it in one or two sittings. My favorite part is web-swinging through the city and watching spider-man as he does so is a quite a site of astonishment.

Spiderman's power were astounding, including powerful attack techniques and combination (lengthy punching, kicking, fast moves). His health is easy to recuperate.

The game might be a bit repetitive but this just makes the time pass quicker since you get used to enjoying certain elements of the success and easy of use of the game.

5/5 for pure entertainment and game satisfaction.

Spiderman is one of my favorite marvel super heroes. His history in games have been better than any others. i love all the new combos and upgrades u can do yourself. Turning in and out of the symbiote at any time is awesome. The game seems a little rushed noting on its freezing and glitches. all in all its a pretty good and decent game.

SINCE THIS GAME IS NOT BASED ON A MOVIE, IT IS WELL CRAFTED SINCE IT HAS TO SELL ON ITS MERRITS; RATHER THAN A SHODDY GAME THAT SELLS ON THE MOVIE TITLE. LOTS OF ACTION & FUN !

i have never enjoyed a game so much before,The story begins with Spider-Man assisting S.H.I.E.L.D. agents in the middle symbiote invasion. After defeating them, he reunites with Mary Jane Watson and Luke Cage before being attacked by symbiote Black Cat

Spider-Man then thinks back to four days ago when he and Mary Jane were attacked by Venom. During the battle a part of the symbiote of Venom's suit binds itself to Parker. With his symbiotic power, Parker defeats Brock but loses him. Mary Jane is rushed to the hospital. After battling gangs outside of the hospital, Spider-Man joins Luke Cage in the war against the Rolling Sevens Gang and the Park Avenue Gang. When Cage finally sets up a parley between the two, the meeting is attacked by heavily armed mercenaries. Spider-Man takes them down and discovers evidence that the gang war was set up.

Spider-Man traces the attackers to Fisk Industries, home of the Kingpin. When attempting to confront Kingpin, Spider-Man encounters Black Cat. After having a run in with Moon Knight, Spider-Man assumes Black Cat is working for the Kingpin and chases her down. Black Cat claims that she was trying to infiltrate Fisk's heist operation. Spider-Man engages Kingpin's forces including the ones that are setting up bombs on the courthouse. He traces the manufacturer of Kingpin's armor to the Vulture, who he defeats in a mid-air battle. Spider-Man then precedes to wipe out the last of Kingpin's troops when he is attacked by strangely aggressive citizens. The civilians tear apart Kingpin's soldiers with their bare hands and then turn on Spider-Man. He attempts to defend himself and is seen by the police as "attacking" the people. Spider-Man is now seen as a criminal and now goes into hiding.

He begins an investigation of the strange behavior of Manhattan's citizens, during which he is confronted and attacked by Wolverine in Hell's Kitchen. After convincing Wolverine that he has his symbiotic suit under control, the duo set out to pacify the aggressive citizens, confirmed to be infected by the same symbiote Spider-Man wears. During his campaign to cleanse the city, Spider-Man discovers that Venom is cloning himself using the symbiote suit he wears. These clones form hives in many parts of the city. From these hives, they launch an invasion against the citizens of the city, kidnapping them and throwing them into the hives.

After destroying the pods, S.H.I.E.L.D. sends a Helicarrier to Manhattan to quarantine citizens, determining which are infected and which are not. Black Widow is appointed head of the S.H.I.E.L.D. quarantine operation. As Black Widow is about to arrest Spider-Man, Electro attacks one of the quarantine zones, looking for his sister. Electro finds his sister who has been infected and in turn infects Electro. Now bonded to his own symbiote, Electro flees.

The gameplay is creative with unbelievable combos and techniques but the game took the comic book-like approach when fighters hit each other a red glow blocks out the contact between fighters. The story line lacks as well as character dialogue and voices. Not for the serious gamers but can be just a fun game to play to pass the time. The best feature of the game is the ability to web sling around new york city which the graphics did a pretty good job in making it look realistically spiderman.

This game has so much actions, so manny great details in graphics with colors, you have free roam of the city, you can even swim in the water. The only down fall is the limit to where you can go out of the city or in certain areas of the city, the lack of the real actor voice ( Toby Macguire ) from the movie and that the seasons do not change during game play, some glitches in the game play, nothing real bad. Overall I give this game a 9 out of 10.

My wife made me stop playing because I would lose all sense of time... Many people have written that it's good for the first time you go through it and I could see why. Worth an extended rental or if you get a good price on it online. Not worth $55 though. I don't think anything is worth that!

really fun game. it looks great! but it does get a little repetitive quite quickly, so a person who wants depth may get a little bored, but the game is fun to play. It's really great for someone who wants to throw in a game real quick and play real quick.

It is a great game and I had many hours of fun playing. About 177hrs all together, unfortunatly the game froze on me after that and now I have to restart the game from the beginning which really puts a damp on my 177hrs that I already put it. Besides that the action and interaction with the environment and characters is off the hook. Definitly a game to buy for spidey fans.

I have to say this is the best Spiderman game I have played and i've played all the movie games, just work on the graphics, but the story and gameplay is great. Also the ability to change suits adds a cool dynamic.

I bought this so that my son can play it on my PS3, but it looks like I'm going to keep this one and find him the same game for the PS2. Awesome game.

This a great game for true fans! You can play for hours and still enjoy the interface. Some of th levels are difficult and stall game play.

I enjoy the game. If you have played the last to games based off of the movies they have kept to the same formula. A nice feature are the partner help where you can call out different characters to help you fight such as Black Kat, Wolverine, The Volture, or Shocker. Also you now get to choose between regular and dark spider-man giving the option of different scenarios the next time you play through. This is a nice game with decent replay value especially for players who are new to the spider-man game franchise.

I really like this game, there are some bugs, but nothing critical =]. The moves, the jumps all is really impressive.

I bought this game in hopes of being able to fight with wolverine and other superhero's and villains. If you like the other spiderman games great you'll love this game if you hate running in a circle or web slinging in one dont buy this game. In general dont buy this game I'd rather play Pitfall on Atari.
