Spend the Night [ECD] by Donnas (The) (CD, Oct-2002, Atlantic USA)

Love this CD beginning to end. These ladies rock hard and it's fun to hear the female perspective lyrics. Very cool, I love them.

The reason I decided to buy this album is because I got turned onto The Donnas by my favorite station. Thanks wfmu.org/ 90.1FM for saving me from a life filled with bad radio!

What seperates The Donnas from other girl bands who came before them is, these ladies have stayed together long enough to fine tune and hone their skills. They long ago stopped being a novelty act. As you follow their albums in chronological order, you can hear a vast improvement from each album to the next. As good their previous album Turn 21 was, still, nothing prepares you for Spend The Night. The most familiar track off this album is Take It Off, but it is far from the best track. Although the last two tracks, Take Me To The Backseat and 5 O'Clock In The Morning are my least favorites, they are still excellent songs. Just not my cup of tea. Most importantly, these girls write rock and roll songs about rock and roll themes. It is fun music. You do remember fun don't you? It's doesn't always have to be soooo serious...

In closing, spend the extra few bucks and get the ECD version. This includes a dvd with behind the scenes of the album, and the music video to Do You Want To Hit It, which is from the Turn 21 album. Spend The Night with The Donnas at your own risk. You know how often those one night stands turn into an obsession!

What's not to like about the Donnas? Two of my favorite things- girls and guitars! This was their break-out album with the hit Take It Off, and aside from that song, there are numerous other goodies on this CD. Hot spots include Five O'Clock in the Morning, It's on the Rocks, Who Invited You and others. This is a great, high-energy, party CD. There's not a dud on the entire disk. Personally I like their follow-up CD, Gold Medal a little more than this one, but they're both nifty! The catchy hooks in the guitar playing combined with stupendous drumming will make a dead man get up and move to the groove. Good poop!
