Speed Racer - Collector's Edition (DVD, 2003)

just getting my 5 year old son into speed racer and the dvd was perfect.
it cintained the first 5 episodes and he loved it.
quality was perfect.

Great product brought me back to my childhood. Nice to be able to share something I loved when I was a kid with my own son.

this is the cartoon version and the kids love acting out as Speed, Trixie, Chim Chim etc. Excellent purchase.

My husband used to watch this cartoon when he was a boy. So, he asked me to find it on Ebay for our 3 yr old son. I did. Know, two of them have fun watching it together. I will be looking for new episodes soon.

My 5 year old heard about Speed Racer from a friend at day care and asked to buy the toy car. It brought back memeories of watching the cartoon with my brother as a child, so I purcased it from e-bay. I really like the characters and car racing as the main them; my little boy was mesmerized by the first few episodes and loved it. He loves not only Speed Racer, Racer X but their little brother and the chimp who keeps him laughing. This is really a classic collection that I will treasure and pass onto my grandchildren. It's so much better for children viewing than some of the extremely violent cartoons on TV today.

My 5 years old son is fascinated with this cartoons, he love the mix of race cars and crashing cars. I can see him enjoy them the same way I did more than 25 years ago and continue the adventure with his hotwheel cars.

My hubby loves it. Brings back great memories for him. This set is a fantastic addition to your collection. Original cartoons, unlike the new "too super-modified" movie that is out now in theaters. Packaging on the DVD's are average, but hey, who's buying it for the container anyway?

This volume is the 1rst of a series of 5 that I own.
I did not buy the cool collectible version with real tire rubber cover, but if you're looking to give it as a gift to someone, it would certainly be a good choice.
If you're a fan of Speed Racer you'll want it to complete your collection.
It tells the adventures of Speed Racer, a young man who, for a living AND for fun, races the cars that his father Pop Racer builts. Speed's crew is made of his younger brother Spritle, the monkey Chim-Chim, the beautiful Trixie and Sparky, the mechanic.
This volume contains the first 11 episodes (5 adventures), including : 'Challenge of the Masked Racer' and the 'Mammoth Car', a Fan's favorite + extras. It will truly bring back great memories if you were lucky enough to watch the show about 30 years ago.
Animation is far from today's standard (so what?) and storytelling is pretty simplified but nonetheless captivating.
The only thing that is sometimes annoying is the audio quality (dolby monaural).
If you've only seen the horrible 1997 series, this has nothing to do with it. This is the original Masterpiece that will be engraved in many a child's memory, even today.
Yes, the villains sometimes use guns, yes people crash and die, but it's done in such a way that it is way less violent than today's series. It's the rythm. kids (and adults) are fascinated because they CAN follow what's happening thanks to an Old School pace.
I don't recommend it for kids under the age of 5, though, and like for everything else, I recommend you watch it first and make your own judgement.

These speed racer dvd's are great, I use to watch them when i was a child about 30 years ago and when the movie was advertised it was coming out in 2008 i started thinking of the original carton series I watched as a kid and I had to have them

My husband watched this cartoon as a child; so we got it for our children. They enjoy watching it, too.

I am not though I bought this for my husband he loves this grew up with it, but he didn't have long when he showed it to my son it's now in my 3 year olds room being worn out ,but darn if that song isn't driving me nuts.

Even if I'm not a kid I will always watch cartoons. They are a passion with
me. It keeps me young. The quality of this movie was good and I am very happy
with my purchase.I belive I bought it at a great price and I am always happy
to find a blast from the past on ebay. Where else can you shop in your jammies
in air condition confort? It's already been in the high 90s since last month.

This video is great ,when i was a kid my cousin ,and I were huge speed racer fans ,and i wanted to get my stepson into it.He wasnt really intrested in it but i remember why i liked it so much the stories were great for kids and the cars and bad guys were great.We didnt know that it was japanese and we didnt care i still dont i still like it if you want to feel young again buy it!

we loved it. My 8 year old can now truely appreciate Speed Racer. He loved the movie and now the TV series.

Brought back memories of watching series as a kid. My boys ages 12, 9 and 7 love it. First 11 episodes, great special features. Bought DVD because of price value. A DVD the whole family can enjoy together.

I love Speed Racer!!! Its by far the best cartoon series ever made. The first successful Japanese anime in America. Great very fun stuff!

My son loves speed racer, so this gave him more episodes to watch instead of the movie! And these are the original cartoon episodes! Also a great gift!

Kids saw the movie, then I purchased the DVD collectors edition. They watch it daily!

Highly recommend getting this set. Took me back to my ejoyable times watching this TV show as a kid myself.

we bought this for my son {and us} we by the classic cartoons for him to watch so he can enjoy the shows we watched as kids. we feel these are better shows for kids to watch than whats on tv.
