AGAIN: Another sexy young woman with alien DNA, and the mass slaughter she leaves in her wake as she searches for a mate – are present in the series' fourth entry. Lovely Swedish actress Helena Mattsson is the girl with the genes from outer space this time – she's a college professor suffering from blackouts who discovers that the source of her illness is the result of her scientist uncle, who created her from a mix of human DNA and the same alien soup that gave life to Syl (Natasha Henstridge)from the first Species. From there, the pair head to Mexico to stop the rapid decline of Miranda's health; the cure, however, unleashes her voracious extraterrestrial side, which stops at nothing to find a partner for procreation. Budgetary issues are the main downfall of The Awakening, still the hubby liked the Sexy Woman to watch...Whatever....

I bought "Species 4 - The Awakening" just to complete the series. Review can be summed up by "It's just as bad as you'd think." or "It's just as swell as Species III." (Just a couple of movies trying to make a buck off of the original, but don't offer enough nudity to offset the loss of "name" actors who needed to make some pocket change/rent money while waiting for a real script to come along!) Predictable to a fault and suspense is nowhere to be found within the running time of this movie. Gals are pretty but not on screen sufficiently disrobed often enough to keep your interest aroused or the question of "why am I wasting my time watching this?" from running through your brain every 3 minutes. Watch this movie and then listen to Richard Jeni's bit (on his "Greatest Bits" CD) on watching the dumbest movies ("Jaws 5") on late night TV when you've got nothing better to do with your life. You will see just how low a bar you've set for yourself when it comes to desperate attempts to amuse yourself! It's like Bill Engvall's statement on outlet malls - where you can buy mistakes,(a pair of pants with a collar on them ) but you do so because they're only $5! Got this movie for $3 and the price drew me like a magnet to complete the series. Gives me the opportunity to top everyone else's "dumbest movie ever made award" because no one even knows Species 4 exists! The only thing worse than this movie would be "Species 5 - How did we sink this low?" I give it 3 Siskel/Ebert thumbs down or 4 nooses on the "should I flip the trapdoor now" scale of watchability. But I want the reader to note that I did take my responsibility to the viewing public seriously by watching "Species 4" completely through to the end as I kept telling myself that "It can't possibly get any worse so it has to get better!" I wanted to make sure that one could sit through this movie without immediately leaving - as the last credits scrolled up the screen - and then throwing oneself in front of a fast-moving freight train to remove the trauma created by viewing the movie. I survived the experience with nothing more than a slight facial tic as a consequence. There is the horror in knowing that those 2 hours can never be retrieved to be used contructively ever again. Of course, this is only my opinion and I could be totally wrong. You could buy this movie or General Motors stock and still be a victim of a poor purchasing decision. But it's ONLY 3 BUCKS! Plumb the depths of viewing despair & buy this movie!

i can definattly say that i have always liked sci-fi. if you are looking for a good sci-fi movie this is it. i like the base story line of what could very much happen if we were invaded by a alien species and they had any true intelligence at all.

This one is the third one in the series and in my opinion it is entertaining, if you enjoy that type of movie. In the times we are living, going into space and all, it wouldnt be to far fetched to imagine something like this happen. But until it does I will sit back and enjoy watching.

FOR THE 4TH INSTALLMENT OF THIS SERIES THEY HAVE GONE NOWHERE BUT DOWN. A CHEAP SETTING AND IF YOU ARE A FAN OF THE FIRST ONE I GUESS YOU WOULD FEEL COMPELLED TO WATCH THIS ONE AND IN THE END WISHING YOU DIDN'T. POOR ACTORS AND A POOR SETTING. WATCHING A FEMALE DESIRING SEX 24/7 WOULD BE OK IN THE PROPER SENSE,BUT WHEN IT COMES TO ALIENS IT DOESN'T FLY. STAY CLEAR OF THIS TITLE.
