South Pacific (DVD, 2006, 2-Disc Set; Collector's Edition)

What I have enjoyed most is that the special edition provides not only the original "cut" movie, but also the "Road Show" version which has all (or most) of the cut video replaced. You can tell the difference in that the replaced footage has not been color restored - but a lot of good lines and songs were cut to make the movie shorter 50 years ago! Also, I enjoyed watching the extra items added to the DVD, and found the commentary quite interesting and informative also. Great play, great movie, great cast - did I forget the wonderful music/songs? Excellent.

It arrives in good condition . The movie is very good. I wanted it on dvd with the special features . A lot better the the vhs.

I always like it when people put very descriptive info on their listings in addition to pictures. This item was exactly as described with slipcover and came really fast.

Seeing this musical always brings me back to my senior year, 1969, my high school, Banks High School, in Birmingham, Alabama ... did this play and it was such a riot and I think we did a wonderful job for a bunch a kids.....directed by the great late Rebecca Jennings. IT will always be one of my favorite plays. The music is divine! The story is beautiful and funny and touching. Everyone should see it!

I bought this for my daughter (7), as well as for me. Wonderful movie, great music and lyrics, and the DVD has the added bonus of being able to play only the songs, should your kids get bored with the acting. The fact that this movie has so many memorable tunes makes it even more enjoyable.

I don't remember seeing this musical as a child, but the songs I remember. My daughter was just picked to play "Bloody Mary" in the college production of South Pacific at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. I wanted to acquaint myself with the musical, and was pleased to see the DVD available to purchase. What a romantic musical! I love the beach setting and the mystical island of Bali Ha'i!
