Sopranos - The Complete Seasons 1-5 (DVD, 2006, 20-Disc Set)

Ordered the Sopranos-The Complete Seasons 1-5 from seller; $99.95 including S/H. I asked by email if the DVDs were US version, region 1, and the seller told me they were.
After I had paid, the seller was suspended by eBay. With eBay's recommendation, I filed a claim for reimbursement for the item.
The DVDs did arrive, but were imports from China, not US versions. Naturally, contacting the seller was to no avail.
Now I'm stuck with Asian import DVDs instead of US version DVDs and PayPal refused to support my claim saying that I received the items, so I had no claim.

I, TOO, WAS SCREWED OVER WHEN I PURCHASED SOPRANOS 1-5. AND JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE, I WANT TO BASH THE HELL OUT OF THE SELLER (BOOMSOLD). BUT THERE IS ANOTHER CULPRIT THAT NEEDS BASHING---E-BAY!! THEY ARE MORE AT FAULT THAN THE SNEAKY LITTLE BAST#%DS SELLING BOOTLEG COPIES--EBAY IS ALLOWING THEM TO DO SO AND THEY ARE STILL DOING IT NOW. CHECK THE LISTINGS FOR THE SOPRANOS RIGHT NOW AND OUT OF THE 20 THAT ARE LISTED, AT LEAST 16 OF THE SELLERS ARE "BRAND NEW SELLERS" WITH OBVIOUS BOOTLEG COPIES!! I HAVE BEEN A EBAYER (BUYER) FOR A LONG TIME AND THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I SEE EBAY BE SO IRRESPONSIBLE WITH ITS SELLERS. I KNOW AS A BUYER, EBAY IS QUICK TO JUMP ON MY TAIL WHEN I MESS UP--SO WHERE ARE THEY WHEN THESE SELLERS ARE SELLING BOOTLEG COPIES. EACH OF THESE SELLERS AND EBAY SHOULD BE REPORTED TO HBO OR THE FCC FOR COPYRIGHT VIOLATIONS. MY SUGGESTION TO EVERYONE IS, YES CHECK OUT BEST BUY, CIRCUIT CITY, TARGET AND EVEN SAM'S CLUB, BUT ALSO TRY AMAZON.COM. I BUY ALOT OF ITEMS ON THERE DVD'S, CD'S ETC. AND I HAVE NEVER RAN INTO ANY PROBLEMS WITH THEM LIKE THIS DISEASE THAT IS SPREADING ON EBAY. IT MAKES ME VERY HESITANT TO MAKE ANY OTHER PURCHASES THROUGH THEM AGAIN. BUT I KNOW THERE ARE SOME VERY GOOD TRUSTWORTHY SELLERS ON EBAY, SO IF ANYTHING I WILL STICK WITH MAKING PURCHASES THRU THEM. I HOPE THIS WAS HELPFUL TO YOU.

Anything under the heading "Sopranos - The Complete Seasons 1-5 (2006, DVD)" is most likely an Asian Import (aka bootleg). I will be honest and say that the quality is great for the price I paid for, but if I really wanted to get something bootlegged, I would have done it through Torrent. The item was advertised as New, but it was VERY DISCRETELY opened. The item was also not advertised as an "Asian Import." Some of the discs that I received had The Sopranos disc covers on top of them, but others had completely random (had nothing to do with the show) photos of people with a The Sopranos logo on it. I plan on watching these DVD's, and then selling them off.

Do yourself a favor and go to Best Buy.

The terrific supporting cast features Edie Falco as Tony's beleaguered wife, Carmela; Lorraine Bracco as Tony's put-upon psychiatrist, Dr. Melfi; Michael Imperioli as loose-cannon Christopher Moltisanti; Steven Van Zandt as Silvio, owner of the Bada-Bing; and the incomparable Nancy Marchand, in one of the great television performances, as Livia Soprano, Tony's conniving, controlling mother. This release includes the first five seasons of the show.

I thought I was buying a new movie but it was mailed from Tiwan and was a knock-off. some of the scense run twice. By the time I watched the movie and went back to put feedback in the seller was not on Ebay and I paid $144.00 for a knock-off. I am very dissapointed in my last two purchases with EBay Peggy Bruce

It was horrible, shortly after i made the purchase i received an e-maail from e-bay saying that they have suspended the seller and to not pay for item or stop payment,which i already did. I am beyond disappointed, i will probably never do business here again. i did get my money back thanks to paypal. i feel like ebay washed their hands of the situation, i was so upset. first the buyer said they were in texas the package came from china and they were bootleg.... i dont think i could ever convey to you in words how awful this experience was.....only good thing about this was paypal otherwise i would be screwed.

I spent almost $150 on this item, and never recieved it in the mail. I couldn't get my money refunded back to me, because the seller was uncooperative and did not care about the package once it left her hands, and I was stuck paying all of that money with nothing to show for it.

Suffice to say, I am very hestitant to buy anything off of eBay.

I had ordered this item over a month ago. I have been emailing seller to confirm that the item has been shipped but no response. I still have not received item. All i ask is for a simple response to when i can expect the shipment but the lack of communication is very frustrating. I would like to at least get some sort of response or my money refunded.

I love the Sopranos, and I love having the entire Seasons 1-5. The problem was the seller. I was probably bidding on a counterfeit version of the DVDs, without knowing it. The shipment came from Hong Kong, and the DVDs all start with a full-screen warning Chinese, similar to the FBI warning we see at the beginning of American DVDs. It is possible that the set was authorized, and made for the Chinese audience, but I am skeptical. The picture is good, as is the audio, but it is weird to see the Sopranos speaking in English with English subtitles across the bottom of the TV screen! You can shut the subtitles off, but you have to go into Special Features to do this. If I did get a counterfeit copy, it is a high-quality one. The ad that the seller used on eBay was deceiving--the picture of the product showed the Sopranos DVD set as you would see it on the HBO web site, on sale for nearly $400. What I received was in much smaller boxes, and 4 discs were crammed into each box, instead of the typically roomy HBO boxes, with a compartment for each disc. I did pay about one-third of the HBO price, however. This is only the second time I have ever received something from an eBay purchase which was not "as advertised." I attempted to contact the seller, but he never responded. I left feedback, but the eBay web site could not process it, saying that this seller is no longer part of eBay. If I could start all over again, I would pay the higher price for the genuine article.

The Sopranos ROCKS! I love the show, and was thrilled to get a great price on the first five seasons.

HOWEVER ~ I went through pains to be sure to buy legit copies of the DVDs. I searched for "United States" sellers, and those that accepted PayPal. The listing said it was shipped from the USA.

The package arrived from China, and even though they were sealed in plastic, they were definite knock-offs. The DVD covers were in Chinese, and the DVDs themeselves looked like cheap copies.

Three of the DVDs froze during play, and we had to skip about fifteen minutes in a few episodes.

If I were to recommend buying these on eBay, I'd say to be absolutely positive that they are USA versions. Pay the extra money.

This series has it all Holds you attention, action, adult scenes, and real life situations. If you have not seen it, you are missing a great show.

Complete 20 DVD set arrived in only 5 business days, which was awesome by itself. All 5 seasons have their own box, which aren't exactly what you would find at your local retailer, but look good on a shelf nonetheless! All 20 DVDs have the actual labels on them, and all 20 played GREAT upon my initial testing. I'm COMPLETELY satisfied with my purchase from top to bottom! It exceeded my expectations, especially after reading some of the other reviews!

These are fake dvd's from japan buyers beware. They will not refund me!!!! These people come on ebay and sell bootleg products without notifying their hard working customers. They do not care if they are ripping someone off!

These things are worthless skips and freezes all over the place. Most of the disks are full of fisheyes on the clear protective layer on the recorded side it's probably what makes them work like the garbage that they are. I am going to Best Buy to get legit copies....

the dvds were sent direct to me from china so i can assume that they are knock offs. in addtion the have chinese disclosures on the dvd's themselves. if the are knock offs they are illegal to sell or buy.

I attempted to buy this set of dvds 2 times on ebay as a gift for my husband. The first time I purchased the dvds I paid for them right after the auction ended and then I never heard from seller. Eventually I was refunded my money through a claim with paypal. The second time I was disappointed to receive the dvds and see that they were not original dvds. Instead, they were bootleg copies. I could tell just by the packaging and did not even bother opening them and returned them to seller. I am currently still waiting for my refund of over $170.00. Apparentlly Sopranos dvds are not the thing to purchase on ebay. All other items I have purchased on ebay have been great.

I was searching for the Sopranos discs to see how much they were going for lately (as I would like to buy the whole set). I saw so many negative reviews about quality and non-delivery of the discs (and I would bet other titles as well) that I have decided to never purchase them through ebay. It's a shame ebay doesn't crack down on this fraudulent activity, as this hurts ebay as much as it does the honest sellers. Thanks to all who posted reviews here, you made my decision much easier.

Though explicitly advertised as the genuine article you'd buy in the U.S., the DVD set was a cheap knock-off from China. When I contacted seller to complain, she gave wrong return address and then didn't respond to further emails. I strongly discourage anyone from doing business with this seller.

I FIND IT IMPOSSIBLE TO REPORT ON THE QUALITY OF THE STORY OR DVDs, BECAUSE I NEVER RECEIVED THE PRODUCT!!! THE THUG WHO RIPPED ME OFF DID NOT HAVE THE DECENCY TO EVEN ANSWER ONE OF THE NUMEROUS EMAILS THAT I SENT TO THEM!!!!!!!

Absolute crap. I have a 50" plasma and they are totally unwatchable. English sub titles cannot be removed. Resolution is horrible. I watched 10 minuted of the first episode and put them away forever. These are bootlegs out of asia with all chinese writing on the disks. If I want the Sopranos I will have to buy the authentic sets from a reputable dealer. Now I am $140 in the hole.

If you would like to purchase pirated DVDs that are inferior to the originals you would get in stores, be sure to buy from this seller. I was scammed by this ebay seller and absolutely nothing was done to her; it looks like I won't get my money back either. Now I'm stuck with $100 dollars of inferior video DVD's.
