Sookie Stackhouse by Charlaine Harris (2008, Paperback)

I am on the Fifth book now. They are a great read. The progression of the plot is very nice. The combination of mystery, action, suspence, and of course romance is wonderfully mixed together. I am a huge fan of the Twilight series, and "I was very sad when it ended. So I decided to continue on the vampire theme, and found these series and am very happy with them. Personally I enjoy these better than Twilight becasue they are written for a more mature Audience. It follows a more traditional sence of vampires, and in the area of romance it is definatly more mature, but not so graphic that it should be considered obsence or anything. The only thing I would say I dislike is that each novel refreshes on what you have last read. And in most case that is great, however with me reading them one after another I keep thinging, "yeah, yeah, I know all of this." I would definatly recommend these novels to anyone 18 and older.

I was hooked to Twilight and a friend told me to read the Sookie Stackhouse Novels. I do not have HBO and never saw True Blood t.v. series (based on the first novel). For any Twilight fan this is a must. I read all 8 books in a week. I could not put it down. I have already pre-ordered book 9. I plan on re-reading the novels again before the 9th book comes out. I think it will be like the Twilight Saga, it gets better each time you read it. I do have to say it is probably not for the young teenage girls. It does have love scenes that are a little bit more detailed than Twilight. All and all a great read. I would highly recommend every Twilight reader to read Sookie Stackhouse. I am now waiting for the first season of True Blood to come to DVD so I can watch it. I heard it was pretty good. Enjoy Sookie Stackhouse!

I haven't been this engrossed in a book in years. I wouldn't recommend it for the teenage vamp novel groopies because some of the scenes are pretty steamy. But adults will love it. It has the perfect balance of action, thriller, romance and normalcy. Although my life is absolutely nothing like Sookie's, I really feel like I connected with her. And even though it's obviously complete fiction, I find myself caring deeply who she ends up with and what she suffers along the way. I read all six books in five days - while working 45-50 hours per week and taking care of a home and family. I literally couldn't put it down. If there's a Charlaine Harris Anonymous Club out there, I should probably join it. But if Eric Northman really exists, send him my way. So, all I can say is consider yourself warned!

I have throughly enjoyed this book series. I began reading it after I finished the Twighlight series and I have come to the conclusion that not only is this series much better, but it is also much better written. The main character is very interesting and likeable. I was very entertained by everything that she experienced and all of the new characters that Harris introduced.

If I had only read the first book, or perhaps the first 2 books I would have rated the series Excellent. It became apparent though after the 2nd book that the ideas were used up, things became repetitive and recycled. Sookie Stackhouse is a great character, but 8 books about the same person is hard to pull off. I was bored with it after book 2 and would have really liked to see Charlaine Harris go a bit deeper in to some of the other characters, something like that would definitely keep the stories fresh.

If you like Twilight I feel that you will like this one too. It is a little more graphic than the Stephanie Meyers series so I do not recommend it for your teenage daughter but for mom it would be okay. I like it so far and I never thought that I could ever like another book after Twilight! The first few pages had to pass before I really got into it, but once I did get into it I read half the book in one night. I cant put it down!

I bought the book set after watching the HBO series True Blood. The books are great!! The HBO series expands more on the other characters than the books which focuses more on Sookie. I am so glad I bought this set. The books have great twists and turns. You will not be disappointed.

I had watched the series season one on DVD and was very much interested in purchasing and reading the books. It's a great collection and packaged very well. Can't wait to get season 2 in DVDs!

This series is for any ADULT (over 18 please!) who loves the Twilight series and wants something more. I like the HBO series but after reading these books, I can see where the TV show could be so much more!! I read all 7 books in less than 2 weeks, mostly on Saturdays and Sundays and in the evenings. Very easy reading style but some of the most literal, visually descriptive writing as well. My sons (ages 12 and 15) are reading the Twilight series now, but they will have to wait a few years for these books. Highly recommend these books to any ADULT!

Ms. Harris has a great sense of humor and a wonderful way of weaving the story. I decided to read these books after watching the HBO True Blood series on TV. I loved the TV show but the books are better.

After reading Harry Potter 3x and the Twilight books twice, I was desperate to find another series that held my interest in the same way. The best thing about Sookie Stackhouse is how relatable she is as a character. If you haven't ever had to work in food service & pay your own bills, you may know someone who has and is a genuinely sweet girl like her. Beyond that, you are there, with her, through all the adventures like it's playing in front of you on TV! I have lost sleep to stay awake and read this series, it's absolutely addicting! My only problem now, what do I do when I'm finished :(...read em again I spose!

Charlaine Harris has to be one of the best writers of our time.You never one to put her books down once you pick them up!Clear off your planner and sit down with this boxset you will not be let down.

I loved this series, it kept me on my seat the whole timeI was reading it. I have since gotten the next book and can not wait until she releases the next Sookie book in May of 2009. This was an awesome series, I would encourage anyone who enjoys the supernatural to read it.

These short novels are SO addicting, even if you don't like vampires or mystery. Harris does a fabulous job of creating a heroine with depth, strength, and humanity who's every move you want to follow. The series is not predictable and every novel introduces a new facet of Stackhouse's world that you'd just not expect, but that fits right in. I recommend them to anyone who needs a quick, easy read with adventure, vampires, and no teenage angst.
