Sony PSP - Handheld game system - black

The PSP is a great handheld system, with a few drawbacks.

The PSP has a great screen size, and very good graphics. There are already games out for it that I'm hooked on, (Lumines and Tiger Woods Golf for example). There are also quite a few games coming out soon that look great too.

The PSP is a comfortable size, fits easily in your hands, and is not so small you'll get cramps easily (a problem I used to have with Gameboy Advance). Loading cartridges is easy and smooth, and the removable memory card is great not only for storing saved games, but can also be used for MP3s, which can be played through the PSP.

The PSP is also able to play movies, although normally the movies have to have been recorded to the PSPs proprietary media (the little mini DVDs that the games come on)

My biggest beef with the PSP is the sound. The sound is fairly good for games, but in my opinion leaves alot to be desired for movies and music. The quality is fairly good, but the sound volume is only moderate. My problem with it is if I'm watching an action movie, I want the special effects to be LOUD and in your face. Even with the ear buds, the sound doesn't go above a moderate volume level. This doesn't only hurt movies and MP3s, but there are some games that have an sound ambiance that really benefits at high volume.. and the PSP doesn't deliver that. I understand that it may be the best technology could pack into such a small package with so many other functions, but for me sound is so important.

I do enjoy playing the PSP, the games are great, the graphics are great, and I expect great things in the future. For portable movies and music, however, I'll look elsewhere.

I give the PSP a 4/5. It's a great system, and lots of fun.


Edit: Since writing this review, Sony has released upgrades to the PSP firmware that provides a volume booster. This has largely corrected the one thing that I felt was a downside to this product.

Excellent machine, capable of playing PSX games, too. Big screen and multimedia functions make this extremely versatile. I wasn't interested in one a couple of years ago - the technology of 360 and ps3 seemed a better choice, but the psp can keep it's own, even a few years after release. I used to own a nintendo ds but this is just sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much better. Way more quality games available (not the sort that are half-broken and still sell from shops! *cough wii, nds*). BUY ONE NOW!

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC GAME AND MEDIA SYSTEM! NOT MUCH MORE TO SAY. It is the easiest and most fun handheld game system available. The graphics are truly amazing. The flow of the system is flawless. There are so many games available for this system that you will never run out of games to play. My 11 & 12 yo sons were able to pickup the system and wiothin a very short time have mastered the controls. It is upgradable online which is very very cool!

Its portable with a wide screen that can be adjusted with its brightness and also it can store anything u want from movies to music and games. futhermore it has a built in wireless. from a 1 to 10 I give it a 10

I like that i can play games on the go or listen to music, keep a charge for about 4 hours that i seen not sure i never realy let it run down.You can wach movies on it too.

I love my new psp. It's perfect. I decided to buy it because everyone I know kept saying you should get a psp so I thought about ebay and I purchased it.

I love the condition of the PSP... it looks as if brand new absolutely no scratches or anthing... one thing im not particularly happy about is the left speaker is blown so when i turn the volume up past half way, it crackles and sounds terrible. This can be avoided by just wearing headphones but i dont wanna wear headphones all the time especially when im playin a game or watchin a movie... other then that i am very pleased with it

Great communication with the seller, always responded to emails within 12-24 hrs. Delivery was a little slow but only on the Canadian custom's part and not the seller. The game console was in great shape and the games came with little sratches and some with none at all. Seller is very honest and does their best to answer any questions. I will be definitely buying again from this seller.

the machine is good and it works and there are no propblems with the machine and it came nicely packaged

The psp has been great. I enjoy this more than the Nintendo DS. The game cost is about the same. The PSP also has a bigger screen than the DS. Both have their positives but I really enjoy the PSP. (This review was written by my 14 year old son as I purchased the psp as a present for him and have no idea about these games systems.)
