Sony PSP - Handheld game system - black

The PSP is a great handheld system, with a few drawbacks.

The PSP has a great screen size, and very good graphics. There are already games out for it that I'm hooked on, (Lumines and Tiger Woods Golf for example). There are also quite a few games coming out soon that look great too.

The PSP is a comfortable size, fits easily in your hands, and is not so small you'll get cramps easily (a problem I used to have with Gameboy Advance). Loading cartridges is easy and smooth, and the removable memory card is great not only for storing saved games, but can also be used for MP3s, which can be played through the PSP.

The PSP is also able to play movies, although normally the movies have to have been recorded to the PSPs proprietary media (the little mini DVDs that the games come on)

My biggest beef with the PSP is the sound. The sound is fairly good for games, but in my opinion leaves alot to be desired for movies and music. The quality is fairly good, but the sound volume is only moderate. My problem with it is if I'm watching an action movie, I want the special effects to be LOUD and in your face. Even with the ear buds, the sound doesn't go above a moderate volume level. This doesn't only hurt movies and MP3s, but there are some games that have an sound ambiance that really benefits at high volume.. and the PSP doesn't deliver that. I understand that it may be the best technology could pack into such a small package with so many other functions, but for me sound is so important.

I do enjoy playing the PSP, the games are great, the graphics are great, and I expect great things in the future. For portable movies and music, however, I'll look elsewhere.

I give the PSP a 4/5. It's a great system, and lots of fun.


Edit: Since writing this review, Sony has released upgrades to the PSP firmware that provides a volume booster. This has largely corrected the one thing that I felt was a downside to this product.

I bought it for my grandson and he loves it sooooo much. He said it worked perfect. He also said he liked every one of the games. I bought it for him because he made the allstar team in baseball.

Great system and bundle! Everything works fine. The only complain I have is the shipping method. Maybe a tracking link could have been emailed to me on the status of the package. Other than that, everything was just fine. Thanks for the low price! A++!!!!!

I like the fact it can be taken anywhere and it's very easy to store. The only problem I've experienced is trying to connect the device to the PC for downloads. Otherwise, it's a pretty dependable game system.

Is a good system if you want to game on the go. It also does wifi (although the browser is a pain to type in), can become a camera, or a GPS unit. veyr expandable. Some limitations on games, not all of them are made for PSP. Also, movies for PSP are being phased out, so they are cheap to get, but none of the really new titles are available. Plenty of cheap accessories available.

The game system it self was in good shape along with all the games/movies except one - the ATV game didn't work and was scratched. It took 13 days before I received the item. I contacted the seller twice to see about when it would be shipped because I paid immediately and did not get a comment back until disputing the sale. The seller did have a medical emergency - so understandable that there was the delay. There also was no instruction manual with the game system. Overall not a bad transaction - but was my first experience buying a fairly expensive item on e-bay so I was nervous.

Excellent machine, capable of playing PSX games, too. Big screen and multimedia functions make this extremely versatile. I wasn't interested in one a couple of years ago - the technology of 360 and ps3 seemed a better choice, but the psp can keep it's own, even a few years after release. I used to own a nintendo ds but this is just sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much better.
