This is the dumbed-down version of the PS3. While it isn't the cheapest unit ever produced (40gb version), it isn't hardly worth the full retail price, assuming you use it for dedicated game and movie playback. No card readers, only 2 USB ports (vs original 4), AND keep in mind that the price is expected to drop in April 2009--so hold off on purchasing for now. This "combo" in particular is a giant waste of your money. It's cheaper to simply buy another PS3 and purchase the game separately (especially since its been on the market for a while). 160gb 2.5" laptop hard drives are cheap now ($20-$30)--and you WON'T need the space, unlike the Xbox360
Only the 60gb and 20gb versions came with the "Emotion Chip", which allowed nearly perfect PS2/PS1 hardware-based emulation. Only these originals featured chrome trim, and everything that's come since has had cheaper gray plastic.
Only the 80gb Motorstorm PS3s that have come since are capable of playing PS2 games, but it is software emulated, and will not universally play all games. ALL PS3 units are capable of playing the original PS1 games.
IF you are going to get a Playstation 3 and care about overall quality, invest a little more money in purchasing the 60gb version over ALL others--and invest the $40 in a squaretrade warranty.
NOTE: A PS3 price drop is expected in April of 2009--unless you want a 60/20gb PS3 for playback purposes, it is recommended that you hold off on your PS3 purchase until after this point in time.

seller has been contacted by me several times, he has refused to refund me back. even thoogh he knows shipper altered delivery document by forging signature .after paypal advised me to file against fedex,fedex says only shipper can file against them for non-delivery. but still seller refuses to lift a finger and file against fedex, after all he already has my money because i sent it through paypal, thinking that was secure. unfotunately there is no paypal protection policy,, it is only a myth. anyway, i am still waiting on seller to file a claim against fedex on my behalf, so i can get re-imbursed fairly and justly

What did I like? Nothing. What did I love? Now that's a whole new story.
The PS3 itself is magical--it has everything you need, and that's not even close to an exaggeration. The PS3 is 500 % more than what you paid for.
The first time I plugged it in my 52SONYXBR8 HDTV, I experienced a fantasy. The Bluray player is amazing, the interface is breathtaking, and the overall appearance is complete. I'm in love with the PS3 and it's only been my first day.
The wireless network is awesome too. I downloaded several large 1 GB + demos quickly. I am glad I bought this over the Xbox 360. I don't want to hate on the console, but 360-ers, you'll get a lot more for your money if you purchase the PS3. It is simply beautiful.

Just received my new PS3 bundle with Drakes Fortune Uncharted. This system has a 160GB hard drive and is pretty awe inspiring. Hooked it up using HDMI cables to my Sony HDTV and watched Wall-e on Bluray. WOW what an amazing machine. Not only was the picture pristine but movement was not blurry like with some DVD's. The most noticable change was the clarity and cripness of the sound. Even at low volume all the details are there. I like that a lot.
Next I signed up for the Playstation Network. It took a total of 2 seconds for the PS3 to detect my home wireless network and after entering the WEP key (found on the bottom of my DSL modem) I was off and creating my profile and watching previews and downloading custom themes for my new toy.
I downloaded all updates for my system under the "settings" tab and then plugged in Drakes Fortune. I love the fact that the PS3 automatically found a new patch and asked if I wanted to download it. Of course! I am really enjoying my new PS3 and have even taken advantage of the auto turn off features. I have a 3 year old who thinks touching the PS3 is FUN so he turns it on and leaves it on all day. Sony allows you to tell the machine to turn off in 1 hour if it has not been used. I even set the controller to shut off if not used for 10 minutes. Thank you Sony for helping to save the batteries on my new wireless controller

What a awesome bundle, in what a 160GB Drake fortune PS3 at a Best Buy (plus taxes) would cost, I got 2 extra new games, Lithium battery pack for the 2 extra wireless controllers, disc and lens cleaner kit, a jeli grip, a quality HDMI and a cat5 cable. The system rocks, so when I see people buying a 40GB used PS3 with missing parts, etc. on other sites for more than $250.00, I just laugh....

My son has dream about this system. First came 40G, then 80G and now we got 160G. The graphic is unbelievable, like 3D game, and if you hook up with 7.1 surround sound system you can feel like you are one in the game. Totally awesome system, you got to have it.

love the extra space for downloading games on to the hard drive for faster loading times while playing. just got in to drake's fortune it's a very good story and excellent game. Sony has some of the best games on the market and not getting a ps3 is a big mistake that's why i got mine and if that wasn't enough two words.... blu ray nuff said.

OK. SO THE ADD FOR THE PS3 I WANTED TO PURCHASE SAID 160GB, DRAKES FORTUNE PACK. HOWEVER, WHEN IT ARRIVED, I NOTICED IT DIDNT HAVE THE GAME WITH IT, AND IT WAS ONLY AN 80GB SYSTEM, WHICH DOESNT HAVE BACKWORDS COMPATABILITY EITHER. THIS IS THE WORST SELLER I HAVE ENCOUNTERED ON EBAY THUS FAR, AND I HOPE THEY GET WHATS COMING TO THEM.

SONY WILL NOT HONOR THE FACTORY WARRANTY IF YOU PURCHASE YOUR PS3 FROM EBAY!!!!
when i got my PS3 i immediately called Sony to activate the warranty and found, much to my dismay that, if i needed to send my ps3 in for repairs within the 1yr warranty stated in the instruction booklet that i would need to provide a sales receipt showing that i bought my ps3 from an officially licensed Sony retail store.
i dont expect to have to use the warranty but this seriously upset me and i will honestly think twice about buying any more
Sony products in the future, even from an officially licensed Sony retail store.
other than that this an EXCELLENT product well worth the $430 i paid for it.

I won this PS3 and now I get a email saying I'm getting refunded without any reason? I guess buying on ebay isn't getting any better. EBAY should explain things to its members and give a explanation on things. It is very upsetting and the longer I look at things I have done on EBAY makes me think this isn't the way to purchase things. At least on Creigs liist you get the product before you pay for it. You learn from your mistakes!

The reason i bought this package was because our blu-ray player at home stopped working. I researched repair options, but they were all very expensive. At the time we also had a Wii that was barely used. We figured we could sell the Wii and use the money we got towards a ps3 to fix both the blu ray and the barely played console issue. The PS3 is the greatest console currently out. It is VERY powerful, Very Quiet, and has features that the Xbox 360 does not have, such as an internet browser where you can type the URLs, as well as the ability to play blu ray movies. I would definitely recommend this console to anyone in the market for a console.
