While inheriting the basic functions and design philosophy of PlayStation 2 (SCPH-50000), the internal design architecture of PlayStation 2 (SCPH-70000 CB series) has been completely overhauled, resulting in a slimmer and more lightweight form. Internal volume has been reduced by 75 percent, overall weight has been halved, and thickness trimmed down to 2.8 cm (thickness of current model is 7.8cm). Its size is almost as small as a hardcover book, making it easier to carry around and enjoy games and DVD videos anytime, anywhere.Equipped with an integrated Ethernet port for network gaming, the new PlayStation 2 sets new standards in the fusion of design and functionality.

    The Sony PlayStation 2 Slim (PStwo) is an excellent video game system (and DVD player) for your money. It is the 2004 version of the award-winning PlayStation 2 released in 2000, but it is much more compact and adds built-in online capability. Here is a more thorough list of the pros and cons:

    Pros:
    1. Has a huge selection of games for all ages and genres
    2. Plays both DVDs and CDs (and you can purchase a remote separately)
    3. It's tiny! And it easily fits into most entertainment system
    4. Is relatively cheap compared to the newest systems
    5. Is very affordable, especially when compared with the 2005-2006 systems
    6. Has built-in online capability and playing online with others is free

    Cons:
    1. Despite its newness, it does not have the latest graphics capabilities
    2. Its online experience is not as robust and polished as Xbox Live
    3. Discs are top-loaded, which requires more room than front-loading trays
    4. Unlike the original PlayStation 2, it has no hard drive expansion option

    In summary, the PlayStation 2 Slim is an excellent system with great value. It may not be nearly as functional or snazzy as the PlayStation 3 (March 2006) or the Xbox 360 (Nov 2005), but it really gets the job done as an affordable game system and DVD player. I hope this was helpful!

    The Playstation 2 has many functions to it, you can get it in Jet Black or you can get it in Silver, which looks much better, but it is very rare to find. I have many games for this console and personally I love it overall!

    Advantages: lots of good games out, Sleek looking, DVD movie playable - basically good value for money :-)

    Disadvantages: Xbox's graphic capabilites are superior - Still waiting for hard drive peripheral for PS2. Also there are only two controller ports, compared to the higher rated Xbox. Also the games are quite costly so go figure!

    The verdict: I would say that the Sony Playstation 2 is a high quality games consule with extraordinary gaming power capible of being achieved. Many people tend to dissagree, but I think that the Sony Playstation 2 is the best games console going and other consoles such as the XBOX and Gamecube don't even compare to the quality of this tiny black/silver box of fun.
