Sony Mavica MVC FD92 1.2 Megapixel / 1.6 Megapixel (interpolated)

Our police department uses the Sony Mavica series exclusively due to their simpliciy and rugged construction. Cops are not easy on equipment due to the nature of their work and these cameras have shown themselves capable of surviving when others quickly failed. The resolution of the MVC-FD92 allows sufficiently high quality images without execssively large file size which makes the required long term storage of the images realistic. The available floppy drive makes for a nice way to copy images and hand them to others who might want or need them but the memory stick is our storage medium of choice. My single criticism of this model comes from the location of the switch to select between memory stick and floppy drive. It is located on the right side of the LCD and is easily moved. Pretty minor issue. The Sony Infolithium batteries last well and are easily charged inside the camera with the included charger. If you are looking for a solid, high quality camera, and don't need one that fits in your shirt pocket, you'd do well to consider any of the Mavica line.
