IF YOU LIKE THE FD MODELS, THEN YOU'LL FLIP OVER THIS ONE. AT 5.0 MEGAPIXEL IT'S NOT THE BIGGEST OUT THERE BUT FOR QUALITY AND SIMPLICITY IT'S TOPS IN MY BOOK. THE VIDEO YOU CAN TAKE WITH THIS CAMERA IS ALMOST LIKE A SMALL CAMCORDER, CLEAR AND PRECISE. UNLIKE THE FD MODELS, YOU CAN'T JUST POP OUT THE DISC AND VIEW THE PICTURES IN THE FLOPPY. YOU HAVE TO FINALIZE THE DISC BEFORE YOU CAN VIEW THEM IN YOUR ROM DRIVE. THIS IS JUST A MINOR EXTRA STEP YOU HAVE TO TAKE AND IT DOESN'T TAKE LONG AT ALL. AND BELIEVE ME IT'S WORTH IT. PICTURES MEANS A LOT WHEN IT COMES TO EBAY, AND THIS ONE CAN DEFINITELY GET THE JOB DONE. YOU CAN PUT LOTS OF PICTURES ON ONE DISC. THE AMOUNT OF COURSE DEPENDS ON THE PIXEL SIZE THAT YOU CHOOSE TO SHOOT, BUT YOU CAN PUT UP TO 1285 PICS ON ONE DISC. SOME OF THE FEATURES INCLUDED MULTIPLE SHOT BURSTS, MPEG MOVIES, ADJUSTABLE SHUTTER SPEEDS, SLIDE SHOW PLAY BACK, TV HOOK UPS, COMPUTER HOOK UPS, CLIP MOTION AND MUCH, MUCH MORE. IT'S GOT IT ALL BUT YOUR KITCHEN SINK. I WOULDN'T HAVE ANYTHING ELSE. MY WIFE PRESENTED ME WITH ONE FOR MY BIRTHDAY SO I RETIRED THE OLE FD90. MAN SHE SURE MUST LOVE ME A LOT. LOOKING FOR A GREAT CAMERA, AT A DECENT PRICE, WITH LOTS OF FEATURES, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE CD-500.

Here I am reading all these good things about this camera...and mine is in the shop for it's second trip in a month. I have been having problems lately. Now, first I want to mention that I have had this camera for over three years now and love sooo many things about it. I had purchased the extended warranty when I purchased the camera, so the repairs are costing me nothing. I have taken so many wonderful shots with this amazing camera...professional and personal. The problems I have been experiencing with it have been very troublesome though. This camera saves the photos on mini cd's that can be taken and put directly into your computer cd-rom and viewed immediately. As of lately, I have been having many, many disc errors causing me to NOT be able to view my photos after taking them. Sometimes the disc error shows up on the camera LCD screen and other times I don't know there is even a problem until I get ready to view my photos on the computer. What a bummer to take all these wonderful pics and not be able to even see them afterward! The store I purchased the camera from sent it in to Sony the first trip around and it came back supposedly fixed with a new 160.00 part...and when I got it home and inserted a new mini cd...turned on the camera and what is the first thing I see on my LCD screen...yep, disc error before ever taking a shot. The camera was actually in worse condition when I got it back from the repair! I was so disappointed. I love this camera and I sure hope it comes back "good as new" this time. If I continue to have problems with it I will update my review to warn others of this problem. Please don't let this stop you from purchasing this wonderful camera. You will be so happy with the advantages of it. I do advise buying the extended warranty though. Mine has already paid for itself. October 12th, 2006- Now I want to update everyone on what is happening with my camera repair or non-repair I should say. I bought this camera from Best Buy for $699.99. Luckily, I also paid the $99.99 for the service contract. My camera is in for it's 4th repair. I have not had my camera since August 21st and today is October 12th. Best Buy is acting like I should not be upset in any way that I have not had my camera for this long. I have a grandson that is 17 mos. old. I have missed out on two months of his young life in my memories. I am a person that has always loved taking and having pictures of family. This means more to me than I can explain. I do realize that I can use disposable cameras or other options. My point is that I should NOT have to. I paid $700 for a camera because I wanted good pictures and they mean so much to me. I am very upset that they cannot seem to fix this camera. I really love this camera and would prefer to have it back, but if they can't fix it I would like to have it replaced. I think the service contract that Best Buy stores sell are terrible. When I buy something from other stores, such as Sears, I buy the service contract and if anything goes wrong I do not ever go 2 months without my product. They have handed me new products right on the spot at Sears. That is the way it should be. I buy good products & deserve better service! I will never purchase anything from Best Buy again. I called Best Buys corporate office to discuss this. I was upset, but very polite. I was put on hold by a man named John for over 20 minutes. He told me he couldn't do anything for me. I would have to let them try the repair again.
