Sony MDR-NC6 Consumer Headphones

These noise canceling headphones were brand new, amazing quality with cheapest price. The item was shipped fast.

I hoped to buy noise cancelling headphones to wear when reading while my guys watch their loud tv football games. These are not noise cancelling at all even though the phrase is in the item description. However, they are kind of cool. Without plugging them into anything, the headphones actually accentuate the sound coming from the TV...it kind of reduces the flagrant noise and makes it really easy to hear the TV. It is crazy. It would be awesome for an elderly person who has a difficult time hearing the television and drives people out of the living room with the volume turned up so loudly. Not what I hoped, but not a bad deal!

These headphones do reduce the ambient noise and are fairly comfortable. They don't feel very sturdy, but then, they are an economy version of noise cancelling (reducing) headphones. The left speaker produces noticeably more volume than the right, and there is no way to balance them. Overall, the sound quality is good and they serve the purpose for which they were purchased, long airplane flights.

Sony MDR-NC6 Noise-cancelling Headphones are still going for $70-95 USD online, but on ebay you can find reburbished units for less than half.

I gave it an average rating only because I've already used a higher model Sony Noise-cancelling Headphone, on a previous trip, and to be honest, they've made significant adjustments and upgrades in their more recent line-up.

But in all fairness, the Sony MDR-NC6 works fine. I took them to Asia and without them or with the Noise-cancelling feature turned-off, the difference is noticeable, but not mind-blowing... like I said, I've used better.

I'd give it 3 to 3.5 out-of 5 and would suggest the refurbished models to people thinking to use such accessories only a few times.

I also demo tested a few other models, in store, and at $29.95 USD + S&H, I was NOT disappointed with the Sony MDR-NC6.

For the infrequent flyer, I'd say that you have nothing to lose and a decent noise-cancelling headphone, for those rare voyages.

-sound -just one cable - flip speakers for easy storage
Bad:
-they look horrible in your head -sound suppression doesnt work when is wind

VERY NICE HEADPHONES FOR THE PRICE.DID NOT THINK THEY THAT GREAT AT KEEPING YOU FROM HEARING OUTSIDE NOISE. BUT THEY ARE EXCELLENT FOR IPOD ARE ANY OUTHER SOURCE OF MUSIC.

These headphones do a pretty good job of getting rid of noise. You are still able to hear what is going on around you. I work on a boat which gets pretty noisy. When you turn the headphones on, you hear the noise fade away. Definately worth the price.

I got these from someone who used them once on a flight. When I got them they worked fine but about a month later the plastic on the cord broke into sections and the wiring (which was more like thread, literally) had come apart in several sections. I threw them in the trash and got some Bose.

The product arrived promptly, but it seemed a little more used then just "once." I bought it because I needed headphones.
