Sony MDR-7506 Professional Headphones

Intrinsically good quality product for professional or heavy non pro use. Every five to eight years I find myself buying a new set of cans. The last time It was Sennheiser DJ cans which were excellently designed and light-weight ABS plastic egg-shell style phones which sat very comfortably off the ear, however after a month or so of heavy use they became irritating because the pressure became too much for anything over fifteen minutes of sustained use. Range was good.
This time I opted for the '506's because Id inadvertently seen a pair in a sony store used as demo cans to promote another sony product, the clerk told me that they weren't for sale because they were professional product. So I tracked them down and bought them here on eBay.I subsequently found they are available pretty readily. The range and build quality are excellent, with metal support inside. The box comes with its own parts list which as I know from being a repair tech is an instant mark of pro grade hardware designed for pro use. Everything is thought out. Everything is repairable. the sound is the best sound Ive ever heard from a pair of cans no problem. I bought them for use with the PCM-D50 Linear recorder.

I needed studio quality headphones for a critical listening class so I bout the Sony MDR-7506. They work great. It comes with a 1/4in. and an 1/8in plug. Just unscrew the 1/4 in. to get to the other. The sound is great. It made my laptop sound like a real sound system! I've only used it for a couple of days but so far I'm very happy!

The Sony MDR-7506 headphones produce good, clean sound. You can verify this by searching Bing or Google for reviews. Their achilles heel is the earpads, which crack and flake off around your ear as the headphones age with use. When this happens, there is a German company which sells Velour padded replacement earpads for around $20 - well worth the price. With this combination, the headphones will work well a long time, black stuff won't flake off into your ears, and the sound will make you very happy. Sony did a great job of making these headphones a quality listening experience and the headphone even folds up to fit in tight spaces.

The 7506 is the best headphone i have ever used!!it`s a solid confection and since 3years i use it for studio monitoring and simply listen to music.

for years i've been using a couple pairs of ultrasone headphones to use as alternative mixing monitors in my studio, but after testing out a few other brands of phones, i decided it was time for a change... i've since purchased a pair of grado headphones for the studio, but for location recording, i still need something with some isolation. i kept looking at a few location audio websites and these headphones kept popping up. i bought them without hearing them and was incredibly surprised at their accuracy. the ultrasones are very colored in the lower ranges, but these sony seem very flat, but certainly not lifeless. i'm able to better assess location sounds and make the necessary adjustments to the recorder before making the recordings, which saves me more time in post-production. they're well built phones and will get quite a lot of usage from me, and if something were to happen with them, i would buy another pair immediately. definitely a good investment.
