Not the latest technology but it does the job!

This TV is about 5 years old but it's perfect for my living room. Although the TV handles HD (720p/1080i) I don't have HD satellite service or a blu-ray player. I just needed something large enough for my living room because my previous TV dies and it was too small for that room anyway.
This TV was the perfect replacement for me. It might even be a little too big, but I no longer have to squint to read my Dish TV menus. :) The picture is still bright and clear and the sound is good too. All of the functions appear to work well.
My two favorite features are the picture-in-picture and the tons of inputs that are available. The PIP is very convenient as you can split the screen into 2 equal parts or make one larger and the other smaller (fully adjustable size ratio) and select which input to view on each. Then you can very simply go back and forth to select which one you want to hear the audio for. I believe there are 7 inputs total. This includes a coax, several component inputs (yellow video cable), several composite inputs (a red, blue and green video cable) and a digital video input (DVI). The only drawback is that there is no HDMI input as this TV was made before HDMI was widely available. This makes blu-ray and upconverted DVDs a challenge. I bought an HDMI to DVI cable but I don't really notice a difference with that versus my standard non-upconverting DVD player. Lastly, one of the inputs is located on the front so you don't have to try to get behind the TV to plug in a camera or game system, which is pretty convenient.
There are also multiple outputs to run a surround sound system.
This TV weighs a ton, but it is pretty easy to move aound by myself thanks to the built-in wheels. You just have to be careful because the casing, especially around the screen is not very strong and the TV is so heavy. The weight is distributed pretty well so it is not too top-heavy. That is a concern in California due to earthquakes.
All in all I am happy with this purchase. A big part of my decision was that 2 of my friends have very similar models of this TV, but in the 50 inch version, and they have had years of trouble-free use with theirs.
