Sony Handycam HDR-SR7

This is an absolutely great HD Camcorder. If you have a HD set-up & are debating getting a HD camcorder, I highly recommend this one. I just recently sold my HDR-SR7 for the 100GB HDR-SR7. This 60GB HDR-SR7 is just as well equipped and a bit cheaper now!

The clarity of recording in HD is astounding. Clear, vivid pictures in every last detail, and there are a lot of "details" recording in 1080 HD. If you have ever watched television in 1080 HD, just imagine your own videos looking like what you see on TV! It will store up to 13 hours of HD video at the highest picture quality, but if your going to record over 4 hours straight in HD, get a second battery. It will also record in Standard Definition.

I have a better camera that I use for most all of my digital still images but this does take pretty good still images at 3.2MP, just as good as the 5.1MP Sony DSC-T5 point & shoot I have. Another cool feature is, if you have a PS3, you can connect it directly to the PS3 and either play HD videos on screen or store them on the PS3's hard drive, very cool for quick full screen playback or browsing your videos. At a very minimum you need a HDTV in order to get the full effect of HD playback out of this camcorder, and a Mini HDMI Type C connector to connect it to your HD compatible TV (not included).

CONS: The Sony Mini HDMI Type C connector will be anywhere from $30-$60 depending on the length cable you need. The included software for editing video from AVCHD format could be a little beefier. Although now there are other software solutions now such as Sony's Vegas 8 or other third party software such as Pinnacle Studio 11 Ultimate, Nero 7 Ultra Edition and others, a better version should be included with such an expensive camcorder!
