TRV-330 fulfills all expectations since I researched it carefully before I committed. My purchase replaces a defunct SONY TRV-530 which had a somewhat faster lens but is essentially the same as the 330. The shopping experience was painless and the seller was excellent and the sale items were exactly as described. The 330's bottom loading feature negates the use of a tripod without pain (the 530 was top loading) but the annoyance is minor. I would recommend any of the digital 8s from SONY.
Item (Sony Handycam DCR TRV330) was not in working condition upon receipt. Shipping box contained absolutely NO packing materials -- item only. Since shipping container appeared to have no damage, my assumption is that the camera was defective when shipped. I will not buy from this seller again and caution others likewise.
This camera is a great little reliable camera can be used for capturing backup audio for weddings, or events. Only major drawback if the dv compartment and using a tri-pod. You have disconnect from tripod and unscrew the tripod attachment before getting to the tape.
True it is heavier than the newer videocam (later model) but I like its features. I could use either my 8mm tapes or the memory stick (although the memory stick must be upgraded). Also, I could use the USB to connect to my laptop just like a newer videocam. The seller was right in saying that I will love the videocam.
The price was a deciding factor. I liked what the features were and that it was a sony. It was everything that was listed according to the manufacturer. I am very happy with my purchase. I wanted the nightvision feature on my recorder and this is an excellent one.
