Sony Handycam DCR - DVD92

I have never used/purchased a mini camcorder before. This one was very easy to setup and understand. The video quality seems to be very good. I have not used the camera/photo option yet. The DVD played on my DVD player without any problem. The touch screen menu is super easy to use. I don't plan on editing my video's, or downloading them onto my PC, so I went with this model. Pretty much, using a DVD-R, it's load, record, finalize. That's it. Then pop it into your DVD player to watch. I guess the limitation is only 30 minutes of recording time on the DVD, but that's plenty for me. Cost of the DVD-R's is about $3.00 each, so that is bearable for me as well. I played around with a DVD-RW. Rewriting the disk was easy, and the VR mode allows you to do some editing if you need to.

All and all, I am very pleased with my purchase thus far. I did however buy an extra battery and battery charger - I recommend you do too.

Again, I am not an expert on camcorders, nor have I used anything comparable before, so for me, I have nothing to complain about by comparison. Some of the limited reviews available on the Internet say that this is still a developing technology, and may be worthwhile reading if you already own a mini camcorder, or are looking for something that may be a bit more flexible, or has more features, or better resolution. I can only say this camcorder works exceptionally well for my needs.

I like the light feeling not heavey like some Camcorders... It also is a dvd so that is a top notch sell out right there, The price is wonderful for all the benifits you can get from it. I don't have the trouble I usually have holding this camcorder as I have had in the past with several other kinds... It handles well, and has long range so focuses better.

I like the touch screen feature. Once you figure out how to customize the menu to the features you would most like use then it's pretty easy to adjust the settings for different lighting conditions.

Only takes about 2or 3 minutes to finalize the dvd and about 10 seconds or less to unfinalize it.

When I bought the camera (used) it didn't come with any software and I haven't had time to download the driver from the internet. Once I do I'll be able to do some editing on the computer.

The one thing I don't like is that if you just got done recording a scene you can immediately delete it if you want but you can't go back an delete any scenes prior to the last one. Maybe on the computer you can but definitely not on the camera itself.

The stability control for the camera is pretty good. Switching modes from video to picture to review/playback and turning off the camera is simply done with a flick of your thumb.

Overall I think it's great.

I have had this for a little more than a month and it has been great. It is very easy to use - I barely read the instructions! The menus are very simple to follow. I also love that it records right onto a disc - if just pops right into the DVD player. It is small and light weight too. Would recommend.

I was having a problem finding the right kind of software for editing the DVD's but finally did. You close your mini DVD as usual when done. Put it in you PC's DVD player and use InterVideo WinDVD Creator software. The software is very easy to work with. Just drap and drop, can crop portions out of video and can add any mp3 music. Music either can be the only thing you hear or can make it softer in the back ground. Can do a lot of manipulation to your color or texture of your DVD film. Can enhance the color. Can drop photo's to do a slide show in the middle of the video and add music to it or add your own voice. Some nice export features just a real nice easy software to use with it.

We bought it because our old video camera was 8 years old and just didn't work. I like the handy cam because we are able to take stills and video with it. I love that it is so small and easy to hold. I dislike the fact that I can't hook it directly up to my computer, and I dislike the complicated instruction manual!

Funny story--I always wanted a camcorder for our kids' sports, dance team, and horse flag team. Could never shell out that kind of money. I just popped in a bid on e-bay and won!! Surprise. The owners manual didn't come with it but I went on the Sony sight and got it right away. Got some dvd's to start with ordered me a tripod (still need another battery) but--I JUST LOVE IT!! Everything works just at the seller said. I have taped a game for all three of my children, and a dance performance by my two girls. The taped play back on my computer, but am still trying to figure out how they work on a DVD player to view them on the TV. I am very glad I went this route, Pay-Pal helped alot, and the seller was great. Shipped out and was here in like five day. Great. I am still learning how to operate it but so far I like it very much. It is easy to use and the idea of putting the DVD's right into a player is nice.

We had a VHS cam corder and it broke and was looking for a new one and I checked consumer Reports and saw the Sony was a good choice.

I love how easy this is to use...I love the Super Nite Shot Plus!! Very handy!! However..the only downside to this camcorder is that there is no SD Slot..so no still pics until you are totally done writing a disk :(...BUMMER!!! Other than that...no complaints..I love it!!!!

This is a handy little video. The zoom and optics are good enough to seen family pictures of children as they perform on stage. (taken from the audience) I like it because it gives you hard copy of your original and will play in a DVD.
Easy to operate. I bought one for Daughter, then wife, then the other daughter. I guess I am a satisfied ...

I Love the fact that we can record directly onto DVD. The only downside to that is that you can only purchase 30 minute or 60 minute capacity DVDs, and it can be kind of expensive if you do a lot of recording. This specific model is great. The zoom and lens are great. Great picture. It stays real steady even when zooming in far. We love it. No compaints here!

REPLACED WITH SAME MODEL BECAUSE I WAS FAMILAR WITH ALL OF ITS FEATURES.

I had a Sharp Hi8 Viewcam, got tired of buying a new tape every time I wanted to use it. I found Hi8 tapes do not work when overwritten. Since I didn't want another camera using tape, stayed away fron DV camcorders.

The Sony DVD92 uses mini DVD+RW disks and by using them I can put the disk, without finalizing, in my component DVD player and watch them. I then transcribe them onto a full size DVD's with my DVR.

the seller put something up for bid and never sold it the email address he/she had registered with ebay was not a working one and the paypal payment did not go through the sell was a hoax the seller then had audacity to state payment was not made seller was incompitent and did not know right from left aside from the fact that i was left without my product and waiting with moeny in hand. the sell was a hoax and the seller was incompitent and overall i would rate this as one of the worst expiriences on ebay i thinking about using more often but it is things like this that leave me with a sour taste when i hear the name ebay.
