We bought this for our vacation this year. I couldn't be happier. It is neat looking first of all, like nothing I have seen.
I has autofocus so that if your videography skills aren't Hollywood quality, you won't make every one dizzy that watches you home videos.
It gets great pictures (stills and video,) and has amazing color quality. I was told that the Carl Zeiss lens that it has is the best in the world. (That was from our wedding photographer that has 2 or 3 $32,000 cameras!)
It does a great job of capturing the sound even in the wind...if your within a 2-10 foot range. This one doesn't do a good job of picking up sound past 10 feet.
It has a touchscreen that allows you to select your options rather than having a button for EVERYTHING on the out side of the device.
I love that you can record something onto the disc, pop it out, and then put it in your dvd player and watch it...no transfering to different media.
Overall, I love it...

I bought it becouse its a new design. its a handy, nice, new for most people.
I like most about it, becouse its a DVD handycam, n small, easy to use.
I don't have any dislike about it. but i couldnot get a bag for it. ( i mean same like it, small n nice bag )

I originally bought a DCR DVD7 last summer when I was going to be travelling and needed something not too expensive, but useful. I have since bought another because it is so great. It far surpasses any camcorder/still camera I have ever owned. It records directly to DVD's which are then put in my player at home. It fits in my purse, but is not too small that it will get "lost" in there. The image stabilization is great, which is needed with little ones who need you attention while you are filming. I can't think of any dislikes about this camcorder, I recommend it to beginners everywhere who do not have a lot to invest in their camera. I have seen very few shaped in this manner- pretty cool.

) Lower resolution that even the cheapest Mini-DV, and nearly impossible to edit properly since scenes are stored on DVD. DVD is NOT recommended if you want to do any editing of any kind. See ANY Mini-DV instead.

I bought these for my family and they love them! They are much easier to use versus their predecessors and the batteries and accessories can be bought almost anywhere. A++ for Sony on this terrific product.

After all, the camera itself was good. I am happy with my new Handycam. However, there was a catch and it was not stated in the descriptions. My experience could have been great if the seller's replies were personal and considerate. I learned a lesson. This Handycam had to be charged fully in order to test but it did not come with the power supply. As the battery was included, I thought all the minimum peripherals were there. The model was older and I had to special order the power cord from SonyParts. It took 10 days for delivery. I asked the seller if he/she could extend the term for returning policy just in case if there was something wrong with the camera. The reply was very impersonal. This seller seems to carry a great variety of items and has established a good record. I would not recommend him/her for computers, cameras and such.

I bought this because I couldnt find it in the stores anymore. Sony has many cool products that dont catch on here in the states but lets not forget its a sony and on ebay at a lower price its very hard to beat!!! This is not designed to be anything more than point and shoot but when you see the final product its hard to believe how easy it is to take the mini dvd out and just play it back!! In my book thats high quality Sony Style
