Sony Handycam CCD - TRV308

I love my TRV 308, it is an exceptional value with great A/V and features for the price along with its ease of use.

We were orignally looking for a dvd camcoreder but settled for ccd trv308 for price reasons. We are very happy with the quality of the piece. We believe it was a very good buy for the money.

I was looking for video camera to replace the one that I had. this sony video camera was close to what I had, plus the tapes work perfectly in the camera that I purchased on e-bay.It was a great buy for me.

Got it to play Hi8 tapes. Couldn't be happier. My old $1200 Hitachi finally wore out with relatives coming. Worked great! Sony quality with great features. The only shortcoming - no remote. But you just can't beat the value.

I was recently at the Stanley Hotel (Estes Park, CO) for a paranormal conference, which included a ghost investigation. I had taken my Panasonic video camera, but could not use it for the investigation because it required the bright light to be turned on, and we were in the dark. However, my niece had brought her Sony Handycam (different model, but similar to the TRV308.) We found that her camera had a feature called "Nightshot", which is essentially infrared photography with no visible light. It was great for the investigation!!
When I got back from Colorado, I started searching on Ebay for a similar Sony camera with Nightshot. I have been very happy with my camera since purchase, and have noticed that Sony Handycams with Nightshot are very popular among nighttime investigators in general. I have used it on other investigations since, as well as my niece's wedding this weekend (I used regular recording for most of it, and Nightshot for when the lights were turned down, they both turned out great). A great buy for the price.

Unfortunately, I can’t provide a detailed review of the product I purchased, the Sony Handycam CCD TRV308, because it came without any means of providing power to the camera. The battery charger/AC adapter that was originally bundled and sold with the camera was actually listed and sold by the seller as a separate bundle. The seller denies any deception, and I cannot prove any, so I just marked it up as a lesson learned in the ways of buying items on ebay.
To be fair to ebay and to this type of selling platform, my overall experience with purchasing items on ebay is favorable. Out of dozens of purchases I have made online over the past several years, this was the first time I remember walking away from the transaction in worse shape than I was in when I decided to bid the winning bid on an item.
I will just have to remember in the future to ask any questions before placing a bid on an item.

It was my fault that I never cheked when you connect the camara to the tv with the A/v cables. The A/v plug from the camera doesn't work, that's why I received 2 sets of cables but the problem is in the camcorder not on the cables. I never complained because I left the feedback before I noticed the defect.

The Sony Handycam CCD TRV308, its a little out dated witch makes it more difficult to transfer what you record onto PC, but you can't expect much from older models. It still has a great picture and a lot of effects, and is great to keep around just in case you want witness some thing such as...ah car crash or a bank robbery. Every thing now is all Digital, DVD, or Mini DV but years ago the Sony Handycam CCD TRV308 was the top of the line best in its class, and still is an excellent camcorder and is great for public school projects or teaching in classes like TV production or film and in Law Enforcement. I got mine because I love to do armature movies and it was being sold at a great price and it came with a cool caring case.
