Sony Handycam CCD - TRV108

Positives:
Great picture quality.
Can shoot with no visible light.
Lots of features, and filming modes including SP Effects.
The Zoom really brings things up close.
Very easy to use.
Easy hookup to TV, VCR, or DVD Recorder.
Good Battery Life.

Negatives:
A bit on the heavy side
No light built in, but can still shoot in darkness.
Has some minor focus problems in night shot mode.
Does not have USB Streaming system which makes it difficult to hook UP to a PC.

Overall this is a great camcorder. This would be really good for those looking for a first camcorder because it is very easy to use. It is a major improvement over the newer JVC Mini DV I used to have. If your looking for a good all around camcorder and your not concerned with easy PC editing, This camcorder is for YOU!!! If you want easy hookup to your PC, look for newer Hi8 Sony handyCam models that offer USB Streaming. On a scale of 1 to 10 I give it an 8.

I bought this camcorder 5 years ago and haven't had a single problem with it. The picture is very clear.

my friend found this camera browsing ebay-he was not a member and asked me to purchase it for him-I won the camera and paid $157.50 plus $9.25 postage for it through paypal-this was a reasonable price-it seemed to be in good condition when he received it, but it would not record--a video tape icon appeared with a trouble shooting code-he took the camera to a photo service but they could not help him-he called Sony Corp. and found it would cost $110.00 to repair it-he then contacted the seller who said it worked perfectly when she sent it to him but agreed to take it back-he liked the camera and offered to take it back if she got it operational-however, she did not reply and he paid $15.00 postage(including insurance) to send it back-I realize most sellers do not give credit for postage on returns but he had $24.25 invested in a camera that did not work-I feel the seller could have at least credited the $9.25 initial postage-I have only given two bad feedbacks in over 300 transactions on ebay-this one and one other when a seller took a month to send me 1000 postcards, I had purchased-my friend liked the camera and all its features, had it been workable--I am very happy to deal on ebay and have found 99.5% of the vendors to be honest and competant people--

This Camcorder is an Excellent unit for persons wanting to enter the Digital Video world at an inexpensive price. This Camcorder is Excellent for Outdoor and Nighttime use (we use 6 of them in our Non-Profit Research group in the Outdoors frequently), but will require a light for indoor Low-Light use. It has proven itself to us to be Rugged, Reliable, and Trustworthy.

I like the quality of picture that it has. and the night vision is fairly good.
I think that is litle to bulky and heavy. But other wise is a good camera.

Awesome camera does what it needs to no mess up's good for the money. In the future i would look for a digital version of this so you can save it on your cp with out loosing frames. When you get this its analog instead of digital and you can only use s video or composite and inles you have s video plug on your cp your going to loose frames.

I had some 8mm cassettes in my closet and my old 8mm camcorder stopped working, so I purchased the Sony Handycam CCD TRV108 on EBay to transfer my cassettes to DVD. Now I can edit them, watch them on my DVD player, and make copies for the family.

I love my new camcorder it is like new condition and works great i couldn't believe how fast we recieved it i purchased it on Sunday and recieved it on Wenesday very quick really nice great sellar thanks

Very good product,easy to operate. Don't have a way to operate directly through the computer. But can download on dvd and download onto a computer. Very clear picture showing.

We began the search because our camera quit working and we did not want to pay full price for another to transfer our cruise footage to a DVD. We had to be patient, but one came available. The camera works great. It was everything the seller promised it. I would never be afraid to purchase items on ebay. The buyer must always do their homework and research the item and what it is capable of doing or preforming before bidding on it. Make sure you put the highest amount you are willing to pay or you may loose it at the very end of the auction. Good luck and happy bidding

The seller stated in the ad that the camcorder was like new and work good. When I got the camcorder, I quickly tried it. The camcorder seam to work ok, so I gave a positive on the feedback. Then I had to use it and found out that the playback did not work most of the time. Tapes that I had recorded on with my other camcorder wound not work in the camcorder and when you hook it to a TV it show that the recording was not recording over the tape leaving some of the old film and the new recording mix together.

What I like about the camera. It is easy to operate takes great pic. I use one for a security camera work's great day or night voice is clear. If we go away we turn on VCR and tape. The other one is used for family event's.Police say it is a better picture then what the stores have. We have one in are garage and we cut a hole 1 1/2" for camera facing down are ally got car's for the neighbor's back and a lot of other things back for them they know we have it there. They come down to get the tape if they need it. Are ally is getting better.

I love the updated model to the older version we owned in the past, for the price -- not bad at all.
What I disliked about it was the sellers inconsistency in responsibity for the product. It shipped out immediately - yes, but minus the manual. Hello, BIG mistake with ANY technical product. Yes he emailed me a pdf version, but I was not going to print out 100 pages for this error. He informed me that he shipped out the manual I saw in the item description with another item (seems he has several of these handycams). I was told he would ship out the manual when he receives his next shipment, whatever this means. It took 2 weeks to get this item from the seller, with a few email reminders in between.
Later, I was looking to connect the handycam to my PC and the PC cord the seller provided does not belong to this product. The head is too small. I have to go out and purchase this. Good luck to me !!
