I have been researching HDTV, and this KDFE42A10 is one of the best one out there. For one thing the picture quality is excellent clear and crisp, sound is okay; you must set this system with a surround sound. The features built-in analog (NTSC) and HDTV digital (ATSC) tuners are a plus. Hear me out folks, free I repeat free HD. (Digital high-definition programming is available via terrestrial signals (over-the-air) or unscrambled cable signals provided by your cable company. Which means plug in the antenna and amaze yourself with HD. The ATSC will convert analog to digital, when you set up the TV. I went out and got a Terk antenna and enjoy the beauty of this TV.
I compare this unit with the Panasonic TH-42PHD8UK 42" Plasma Television, right from the start you can see the differences in color and the picture quality. Trust me, the Sony picture is two times better than the Panasonic. I happened to see the Zenith-P42W22B, and set all three side by side. You can tell that the Sony was much better then the other two. I am not promoting Sony, but it clearly shows the KDFE42A10 stands out from the other two. So folks if you want to see this for your self by all means go out and did what I did, and see for yourself. I looked around for TV's for several months. I finally checked on ConsumeR Reports and found this Sony and it was rated top of the line. I totally agree now. For the price, you cant beat it. Its great for DVDs, Games, and HD. If you dont need a flat panel, I highly recommend this one.

I went from an RCA 27" tube to this 42" Sony Wega LCD. So you can imagine how excited I was when I pulled it out of the box. Forunately for me Sony didn't disappoint me at all. The screen is large, the resolution is amazing, images are crisp and clear, no screen door effect as far as I can tell, there are seemingly unlimited hook-ups, this unit was super easy to set up and very easy to use and adjust. Does that mean the die hired ultra-tehcno super geeks will like it? Probably not. But after spending a few years with that 27" CRT television, this thing is wonderful. And I see current price trends are quite reasonable for the machine you are getting. Here's a little more info for you: Connectivity is great, there are ports and hook ups every where on this thing. The remote control is ok, it does what it needs to do. The Wega-gate menu is awesome, you can fine tune and adjust this thing to death. Durability is high, I have moved twice since purchasing mine and no issues at all. The internal sound system is ok, but is much better than most other LCD or Plasma tv's I checked out. And most of them don't have any sound. HDTV is incredible on this unit, the image produced in 1080i has to be seen to be believed. I am a huge fan of Sony because they rarely disappoint me, this television was no exception.
