One of the under rated phones out there.

Sony Ericsson hasn't been promoted like other phones with lesser features. Why? I've no idea. The Sony Ericsson has been one of the more feature rich phones leaning towards a PIM. I've owned two Sony Ericssons so far and an Audiovox SMT-5600 smart phone as the PIM feature is very important to my life style. Granted the smart phone has a much simpler email function, and the camera feature is some what better, and there is an expension slot for a memory card, (a feature available in later models of Sony Ericsson. Yet the Sony Ericsson
s elegant PIM is superior to any phone I've used to date.
Most phones treat PIM as an afterthought, and many require you purchase extra software or cables. I left Sprint/Nextel due to their restrictive policies on my personal information management (PIM). You needed to pay them an additional 5 dollars a month for online storage of your contacts, and purchase an expense usb cable.
Sony Ericcson's clam shell phones come with syncing software that allows you to use your Microsoft Outlook to manage your information. No extra cost involved. My smart phone does allow me to sync the majority of my Outlook, but does not have the ability to sync the notes portion. Sony Ericcson also allows you to add information on the fly with great ease.
I've played with friends' razrs, slvrs, and other cutesy phones and while the form factors are appealing, and are "compatible" with Outlook, you need to buy thrid party software and a proprietary cord (or install a bluetooth adapter on your desktop computer.) With my Sony Ericcson, I just plug it, straight out of the box install the Sony Ericcson file manager software, and I'm off and running.
The speaker phone is also one of the better out there as to clarity and volume. though one drawback is you have to activate it after you've made or received a call. Another nice feature is the ease with which you can access all of the phone's bells and whistles. Texting is simple with the standard easy to fill formats and a T9 dictionary. Voice calling, is simple to set up and use. You can also set your phone to say the name of the person calling, so you don't even need to take your phone out of your pocket. If you've set your phone to be silent, you don't even need to open your phone, as there is a smaller screen on the exterior of the phone.
The alarm feature is excellent, and for someone who travels it makes it one less item you need to pack. If you're traveling with your laptop, you can leave your phone charger at home as your usb cable also charges the phone. Battery time is excellent both for stand by and talk time. I use my phone extensively and have never run out of battery power.
You can assign and personalize your ring tones, wallpaper (my dog graces mine) and the included software allows you to make and record any ring tone you may want. Some phones do not allow you to add ringtones other than those you buy from their expensive online stores. Not so with Sony Ericcson. You can use your computer to take any mp3 and drag it on to your phone just like you would on your desktop. The same with pictures. Many phones limit your ability to use photos and make you use their data service to send and receive pictures for an additional cost. Not so with Sony Ericcson. You can drag and drop a picture from or going to your phone.
All and all, no other phone as all the features I've come to depend on with my Sony Ericcson. Oh, its phone calls are clear too.
