Sony sets the standard for build quality and design very high, and this portable player ranks right up there. The sceen can be turned 360° and lay flat against the base. The playback controls are nestled on the LCD half, making them very east to access. Plays all my burnt dvd-r full size and mini disks no matter what software I, use Linux or Windows. Battery life is nothing short of fantastic I, can watch a couple of 2hr movies with juice to spare. Comes with an adaptor cable to hook it up to a TV or flick the switch on the side to video in and it becomes a wide screen display for my PS2... very nice on long trips.
My biggest complaint is very weak audio though the built in speakers. I, thought maybe it might be a defect so I, bought another unit, with the exact same low volume, but the dual headphone jacks sound great with a decent pair of headphones. The sceen is very reflective so outdoor veiwing can be annoying, but easily fixed by adjusting the brightness and moving it around. Also the display is not nearly as sharp as would be expected from a name like Sony, its not bad but I've seen much sharper on far less expensive units.
I, would recommend buying this model for the build quality alone, it just feels and looks very sleek and rich, and I, expect to last many years as other Sony products I've owned.

Although I thought I had purchased a new portable Sony DVD player, it appears to be only slightly used. It has a great swivel screen feature allowing balance and space-challenged locations to be used (such as on an airplane when the guy in front of you has reclined all the way!!
It is very easy to use and has a wonderful picture. There are a myriad of functions and controls available on the remote.
Its large screen makes viewing even the most intricate scenes easily accomplished.
I think you would like this for your portable DVD playing.

I bought a Sony DVPFX810 DVD Player from this person. After the transaction was competed I didn't hear anything and had to contact him to find out when he was sending the product. When he finally did he did send it to me it didn’t include the cord to power the player on (thie arrive dead). I had to contact him to send me the SONY DVD power cord as promised in the Ebay description. He sent me a cord that would NOT work with the DVD player as description on EBay. I contacted him NUMEROUS times tried to resolve this only to get I am a busy person response, and the after this to be ignored. Don't buy from this individual if you want a product that works! You will be RIPPED OFF -- SAVE YOUR MONEY!!

Advantages and disadvantages of Sony DVD player2 of 3 people found this review helpful.
I immediately loved this product when i received it. I loved the look, the flexibility of being able to manuver the screen to any degree or even turning the unit into a tablet form. The only down sides to this package is that it does not come with a carrying case or bag and i also wished it had a TV tuner. It was also unable to play all of my dvd formats.

what I dislike about is the volume the volume is very low and had to spend 22.00 on portable speaker so my children can hear it even if someone is talking

The Good - This portable DVD player has a great picture. Very clear. Very easy to set the clarity by simply moving the screen. Access to buttons are very easy as well. The remote makes it all that much more simple. Holds a great charge. Still had functionability after one movie. Great to see that it comes with accessories. Very Sturdy.
The Bad - This portable DVD player is a little bit on the heavy side. Sound is tinny. This is immediately corrected with any set of earbuds. Needs to add protective carrying pouch and earbuds with accessories...dunno why it doesn't, it came with everything else.

Sony makes a great player..picture is excellent. My major complaint is that the Volume could be a tad louder, and my remote does not have a volume control on it.
If you are looking to buy a Sony, buy the FX820 which has better volume and a great remote control.

It's got a great picture and decent audio, battery life is great (5+ hrs.) The swivel screen is handy and it's got a feature that lets you stop the movie at anytime and remembers where you left off even if you shut the power off. When you power back on and hit play it resumes from where you stopped it. It's a great little player!!

I had one of these in stainless steel. It served it's day's and I purchased this one in place of it. I am impressed with all the features and the remote. It has a Bright Screen and Great Sound for being only 7" screen. For the money I give this 2 thumbs up.

I love my new DVD player(portable) I wish the screen was larger
but its still good. I've been watching movies on my laptop but the voice never
matched the actors lips(thats weird enough).I had won one before from a seller
who will be forever known as TBAITW. His name is 2ndturn, never buy from this ruskie.I paid $91.00 dollars for the most beatup piece of trash from 2NDTURN.once again never buy from 2NDTURN EVERRRRR!

Great dvd player reccommended by a friendI bought this player for my work not for playing Cd's purpose but for video output. I work installing cameras & bought it just for that purpose, it works awesome, you can tilt the screen to any position you want, hook it up to the camera your working on & see the position of the view & adjust it right there, it is batterie operated so when I climb the ladder to adjust the camera I dont have to worrie about any cords dangling so this worked out perfect and if I want to watch a movie some day its an advantage. Love it....

Like the size and audio, but the wide screen doesn't work well with toddler videos that don't come in wide screen. Not alot of toddler videos come in wide screen. It makes the picture small.

the condition was very good, i was under the impression that it was "new" meaning not been used! The remote was missing, I contacted the seller & I was told that the kids must have misplaced it, eventually it was sent to me. The price after shipping wa fair.

Love it!I bought 2 of these DVD players before going to Disney World last year and they were the best money spent! We have actually had 4 of them now because my 6 year old keeps breaking them. He fell into the swimming pool with one and the other slipped off the dresser and broke. The only con I can see about it is that the battery life is not as long as advertised but you can watch at least 1 1/2 movies before recharging but since it comes with a home charger and a car adapter that hasn't been an issue for us. I will definitely buy another one the next time my son damages one!
