Quality 400 disk standard def DVD player

As most of the reviews seem to suggest, I too have had good luck with the 777ES.
Our first 777ES has lasted for 4 years of very high use. We are in a cable access station, and the unit plays 30 disks a day for 365 days a year. After 4 years it had a minor problem (bent load arm), but it was fixable for a moderate repair cost ($100), and is now back in service. We've since purchased a seccond for back-up purposes. The unit seems to be very well made, and parts are available as of 2009.
The unit is very quiet, and of resonable speeed when changing disks. Most disks load and play within 5-10 seconds, which seems standard with other DVD players we've used. As we start to store more media on hard drives, this is starting to seem slow, but we wouldn't have said that 4 years ago.
I am disapointed that Sony's new model does not have a RS-232 port like the 777ES has. The port allows you to control the DVD player through a separate machine. While I imagine new controllers can connect via LAN cables, our current one cannot. At some point there will be a need to upgrade our controller, but with the amount of data stored, and connection to other devices, we like having a DVD player with a RS-232 port.
We will keep using the 777ES as long as we can, and would reccomend it for any home use as well.
