The DSC-P8 Cyber-shot Digital Still Camera combines exceptional image quality with compact design, delivering 3.2 megapixel effective resolution with a 3X optical lens and intelligent features, like 3 area multi-point AF for sharply-focused shots even in low light conditions and Sony's AF Illuminator that briefly illuminates the subject for an accurate focus lock. The multi-burst function captures 16 320x240 frames with 3 selectable intervals for convenient motion analysis. Versatile MPEG movie modes are highlighted with MPEG VX mode, which captures VGA (640 x 480) high frame rate (16 frames per second) audio/video clips with length limited only by the capacity of the media. You can even edit in MPEG clips in the camera with 6X cue/review and divide/delete. Add to that a lightning-fast USB 2.0 interface, and this is a camera that will keep up with you and with technology for a long time to come.

    This is my first digital camera, however I've used several, and did research before buying this one. It is a great intermediate camera, it does everything you need. Takes great pictures far away, or up close, does video recordings and sound receiver works great. Has settings for night pictures and for moving objects. Lithium ion battery holds charge well. The memory stick that came with the camera is quite small in space, but most cameras only include it for you to start using the camera, and eventually obtain one with more space on it. Menu style and button indications are really easy to follow, most wouldn't require the use of the manual for simple functions, but if you do use it, it's fairly simple to follow, user friendly.
    One thing I've noticed, when recording a video you can't zoom in or out, you have to zoom in/out prior to recording, and please note if zooming in, video will be darker since there is no flash /light. If you want to see some of the pictures taken by this camera, just visit either my current or past auctions. If there is a picture listed in the auction, chances are it was taken by this Sony DSC-P8.

    Ok, lets all please ignore the person complaining about their battery shall we? That has NOTHING to do with this camera!! And to set the record straight: THE SELLER CANNOT EDIT THE STOCK INFORMATION SECTION THAT SAYS THE BATTERY IS INCLUDED.

    I sell and repair digital cameras for a living, theres nothing wrong with the P8.

    The P8 is nice and small to carry with you, it has a protected LCD screen so it wont get cracked very easily, its got a FAST startup time and in general is easy to use and takes great pictures!

    We used a P8 to do all our eBay pictures for a few years and loved it. If you want a good quality compact camera, this is a good one. You're not going to get all kinds of advanced features and a huge zoom, but youre not paying for those things either, so if you dont need them why pay for them?
