The DSC-P50 is a 2001 year model Sony Digital Camera. I notice a bit of overrating for a 6 year old camera. Realize before buying this model that the memory cards are outdated and limited to 128MB, the higher capacity Memory Sticks will not work with the DSC-P50. For a little more you can buy a much newer digital camera for just a few dollars more. The DSC-P50 is really not worth more than about $35. Using 2 regular Alkaline AA 1.5 volt batteries will last for just a few maybe 12 pictures because the DSC-P50 is designed to work with the rechargeable NP-FS11 which is a 3.6 volt battery. The AA batteries leave you short more than 1/2 a volt, which drains the batteries much faster. Newer cameras with rechargeable Li-ion batteries last a lot longer and you won’t be left with no camera for those important shots. These older models also take longer between shots, so you may be waiting and missing shots while the camera is resetting for the next shot. Don't spend too much on this classic you may be buying another higher resolution camera soon after. Otherwise it is a good 6 year old camera.

We have now owned 2 Sony's and we love them! They are Great point and shoot cameras! Easy to use and the pictures turn out GREAT with them! We have even printed out 8x10's and people thought they were professional photographs! We dropped our first sony in a waterfall, and it took a few months to dry out. In the meantime we bought another. It was nice to have 2! Now, we are in the process of purchasing another. We have dropped both of them, with minimal damage, such as the battery door not shutting properly or memory card door doing the same thing. But, that is IT! Off to purchase another!

Great camera, easy to use, many functions, including movie and flash. Only draw backs, flash uses a lot of battery power and movie clips do not have sound. Have had mine for 4 years, and still going strong with lots of use.

This unit was easy to operate and affordable. Uses regular AA batteries which are easy to obtain. I didn't like the small LCD display but it works ok for ebay stuff....But overall a good camera.

  Compatable & decent Price!

I have had a DSC P-30 for quite some time. It worked great until it was run over by a car. All features on the DSC-P50 are compatible including battery pack & memory. Only limitation is memory size. A simple to use camera for a decent used price... if kept under $50.00

Trust me when I say I'm Hard on things!! A mechanic, welder, fabracator thats loves/is involved in such activities such as drag racing, camping, fishing, dirt bike racing,ect,ect.. My things get exposed to some harsh elements, handling and just general abuse and carelessness!! so when I say these lil'cameras can take a beating and continue to produce great pics, with little effort,You can bank on it!!!

The Good: Camera is easy to use, has great features, uses easily found AA batteries, and takes nice quality pictures.
The Bad: Camera does not have long battery life.
Over All: It's a great camera for the price.

I own a digital camera like this one DSC-P50 2.1 (since 2000). It is a great E-bay camera. Takes wonderful indoor and outdoor pictures. A year ago I dropped it and it now makes a funny noise---- but still works as good as it did before I dropped it.

  Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P50 2.1
Review created: 10/02/09

I owned a Sony Cyber-Shot for over 5 years and loved it, but when I bought this one, it was like a cheaper version and the pictures are not that good. I'll try another Cyber-shot, but it has to be better than this one I received from Ebay. Felt like a cheap made camera wasn't happy at all.

It truly is an awesome deal, price and qualiy and features can't be beat. Overall, I'd recommend the camera for anyone. From a beginner to an expert, takes great quality pictures and simple to use. Professional photography quality at a budget price.

  Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P50 2.1 megapixed

The camera appears to have been taken care of. I decided to buy it for the price. I wished I would have considered other options. It is difficult to focus and have appropriate lighting. Screen is dark and I not sure how to fix that. Picture quality is poor at best. You can get a good picture if you take several shots. I hoping that once I practice with the camera these problems may be resolved.
If I had to do it over with what I know, I would not have bought this camera.

Simple Camera ... easy to use
Review created: 10/30/08

Uses only penlight AA Batteries ... make sure you use Alkaline or better
Downloable manual and drivers from Sony ... can use a UV filter to protect the lens ... and have used 256mb sticks ans higher ... although ment for 4mb, 32mb ans 64mb sticks ... good little camera ... although outdated by todays standards ... still takes a picture ...
