I like this camera because of size (small) carry around and it takes great easy photos and videos. Its easy to download and view on television or computer and even have a great display for viewing from the camera. I would by again if damaged.

  Awesome dual-function camera!

I love the picture quality and the different modes available.
The movie function is awesome - MPEG4 formatting to save space and still render High-8 quality video.
The sleek design and slide out screen never fail to impress.
I bought this camera to consolidate a traditional camera and my camcorder - Definitely not disappointed.
I would highly recommend this camera for any enthusiast who wants to not only take high quality pictures, but also high quality video!

I love this camera, this is one of the most sturdy cameras I think, it is not plastic junk, very strong, dropped mine once, and nothing happened! great camera, better than any other, the quality is very good, and easy to access to get pictures onto my desktop or laptop! I prefer this over the Casio exilim, I wen through 3 of those cameras already, good thing for a warranty, and they all had problems, so i exchanged it for this one! it is not the smallest one, but zoom is great too! Battery life is over 80 min, and never dies! flash is strong! great camera, good look, every time i take it out, I get the looks, everyone wants to see what it is and how it works. The flip out scree makes confusion! You will not be disappointed with this camera. video plays, and records great! the bad thing is without flash, you have bad quality, hard to see what it is, and very dark, but that is why there is a flash! Buy this one today! I actually had one, and it stopped working, so i bought another one on ebay after having the other one for 3 years! warranty died. then I got a great price on my next one on ebay, and for some reason when I got the camera, it works, but so did my other one. very odd to me. the battery was dead in the first place, and I thought it was broken. now today I have had my first one for over 4 YEARS! and no problems at all! just me and my stupidity. Buy this, you will not have any problems!

This is a nice camera. Purchased for my son to take to college. It's not made to be used for television field work and getting news scoops or taking award winning photo's during war time, but to grab quick and short video shots around campus and take shots of friends during football games, download into your computer and save for a lifetime? that's where it works just fine. the dock plugs via usb to the computer for download and charges at the same time. the flip screen won't last 50 years, but technology changes every 2 years anyway! get a good deal, take some pictures and enjoy life. my son loves it and we are very glad we got it for him. would do it again.

One of the Best Cameras out there!!

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-M1 5.1 Megapixel camera is one of the best cameras I have owned. The screen can be rotated in any direction making it easy to get difficult shots. It also makes great videos. It is a camera made like a video recorder with a built in microphone and speakers. I have found that it takes great close up pitures in beautiful detail. I would recommomend this camera to anyone. It costs a little more than alot of other cameras out there but it is well worth the price.

This is a great little camera. It shoots great video + takes plenty of great stills on one card. I've had mine for a few weeks now and I have no significant complaints.

This is a great camera for the price all the ease of a point-and-shoot
Easy export features.
You dont need to install software to offload the photos to a computer.
You can just plug in the usb cable to camera and computer and transfer photos quick.
Top reasons to buy this camera over others Small, lightweight, easy to use.

Very quick bootup and very responsive shutter speed.

Good on batteries, but still, get rechargeable batteries save you alot of money $

Buy it.You will not be disappointed.

I had bought the same camera a long time ago, but it broke and the seller had a great price. It came great, a few stains on it for some reason, but other than that seems to be almost as good as new.

Great sized camera--not huge, bulky, not so slim that I feel like a Klutz handling it.
Sharp clear images with variable image quality as per operator's desires.
Flash,closeup 180 degree LCD movable.
movie feature
SD card expandable
separate movie and photo trigger buttons
LARGE trigger buttons for a small camera.
Decent power up and cycle time.
What's not to like?

  Very Happy Guy!
Review created: 04/10/08

I was playing golf in Pinehurst, NC and took my favorite camera with me. In my rush to turn in the golf cart, I left my camera in the cart and when I realized it was missing I returned to the pro shop. After having everyone trying to find it, it became clear that someone had walked off with it. I was devistated. When I got home I called Sony to see if they still made that model and they said no and that there wasn't a replacement that had the same features. Enter E-bay and there was the camera...not one but four for sale. I bid on and won the one I liked the best and it's like it just came out of the box. I was willing to pay Sony another $600 dollars for a replacement and wound up getting a mint condition replacement for under $200 dollars. Thanks!

  Compact & versatile
Review created: 03/31/08

The Sony DSC-M1 is a first generation camera for Sony that slides open. It has awesome features such as the 5.1 megapixels, ease of use of switching from photo to movie with a switch of a button, battery life, the most you can get is an average of 2 hours, depending on how much you open and close the M1. Another thing is the flash is so tiny, its only good for taking close shots up to 5ft, anything past 5ft, the picture is dark, grainy especially when the room is dim, even using the red eye function, will not guarantee a good picture. Overall its compact, handy and versatile. It takes better pictures than my cellphone and I get alot of positve comments of people asking me if my camera is a phone or not.

I wish they made more like it.
Review created: 12/18/07

I really love this camera. The best thing I like is that it is small enough to be carried around. It looks like a camera phone. It has a flip screen so that you can take pictures of yourself and see how the picture will turn out before it snaps the picture.

Disadvantage is that some of my photos come out blurry especially in low light. You have to be absolutely still for those crystal clear shots. There is a fix. Luckily, there is a piece where it can be screwed into a tripod.

Movies come out pretty good. It's not high-def, but it is good enough. I took videos of my newborn with this and I'm very happy with the quality of the movie I produced.

Overall, it is a great camera if you don't feel like carrying around a big SLR camera all the time.

This camera is a great base idea. its missing a lot of the clean and stylish aspects of other sony items. The best way to describe this camera is clumsy. its large design may trick you into thinking its very durable, but the hinge design is somewhat fragile and cannot handle too many rough nights. [evident as i've recently broken mine.]

Not the best camera Sony has come up with. It is kinda bulky and clumsy to use. It is missing Sony's nightshot wich is the amazing infrared feature found in some of their products.
