The new BDP-S1 Blu-ray Disc home player from Sony offers a host of new high-definition entertainment possibilities. The BDP-S1 features 1920 x 1080p output, the highest HD signal output currently available through a HDMI connection. If your HD-capable television does not have an HDMI connection, you can still get the Blu-ray experience; the 1080i analog output allows for HD-capable televisions without HDMI to enjoy Blu-ray Disc features. The BDP-S1 is also compatible with standard DVDs with the added feature of 1080p upscaling through HDMI, which gives new life to existing DVDs libraries. BD-Java interactivity will further enhance the BD entertainment experience, allowing for development of advanced interactive features. Its sophisticated design, with blue glass front, will compliment any decor. Bring your home entertainment experience to a new level with the BDP-S1 Blu-ray Disc home player.

    I bought 3 different Blu Ray machines the Samsung BD-P1000, the LG BH100 and the Sony BDP-S1 to test them on a CRT Projector combined with a JBL Synthesis One Sound System in a dedicated THX room. The LG has the advantage to read both Blu Ray and HDDVD standards, but I found the image is little bit pale. The Samsung is OK. But for me the Sony is the best Blu Ray machine with a stronger ouput signal, a more precise image, a sharper sound ... and a great look.

    sony just came out with this new " blue-ray " laser that seriously enhances the image on a hdtv - even on the standard dvd's it is quite a difference. on the new blue-ray dvd's - it is outstanding !!! not just the image but the sound and quality together makes for one completely must see dvd ! they are not cheap-new at stores - 900-1000 bucks-on e-bay - 740-900 bucks ! you should have the right equipment to go with it - like a newer hidef tv and a newer model reciever and also get the best speakers that you can. you will not be dissapointed.
