Great, when it works; rarely works! 79 of 97 people found this review helpful.
Purchased Sony Bravia 40" LCD 90 days ago; TV constantly shuts down (Yes, I've received the Sony software alert but my TV serial # isn't listed in that alert). TV has been in service shop twice, three home visits, LCD panel completely replaced--still doesn't work---and yet no resolution from Sony. The TV began shutting down 32 days after it was delivered. Shuts down nearly every day...Sony not standing behind their product. Talked with Circuit City, with Sony...no one will make good on the TV! Let's keep repairing it Sony says......that would be great if they could repair it but they can't figure out what's wrong! I purchased this set--although it had equals in the marketplace--because I thought Sony stood behind their products...not true any more. They are willing to let a brand new $3500 TV sit in a customer's home/at a service location for 90 days, not working and without resolution! TV just shut down again as I'm typing!

I have had mine for less than a month and it works great and extremely happy with it. I got it online and was worried about its arrival, but it is packed well with factory box. I have two friends who have one for about a year now and they have no problems with it. The TV has excellent picture, and compared to other HDTV's, Sony hands down is obivously noticably the best. You can see the pancake makeup on the guests of Jay Leno and David Letterman...and yes, Conan O Brian on HD is even more scarier, but just as funnier! Discovery HD is like you can reach out and touch the animals. Breathtaking really. For video games, it does pretty good too, and with all the connections, XBOX 360 is only $450 away! Oh, and the BBE surround sound emulator does work, a couple times I had to mute the TV a because it seemed like a certain sound was coming from a different source. It is expensive, but if you can afford it, it is worth it. I actually might have to ebay mine soon because of financial burdens, but this TV ROCKS.
