Shopping for a high quality LCD?

The Sony XBR4 is Sony's "top of the line" LCD T.V. After they stopped making plasmas they quickly became known as the leader in LCD screens. I researched LCD's for about a month before I made up my mind on the right T.V. The XBR4 has excellent picture quality with very good sound considering they are on a T.V. A lot of people compare the Samsung 71 series with the XBR4, and rightfully so, they are both great T.V.s and Sony and Samsung share screen production facilities, which may be why many people sometimes can't discern the difference in the two. I did the same, I was leaning towards the Samsung 4671, but I gave in to the Sony XBR4 simply because I think it has a slightly sharper picture. Many people think the Samsung 71 Series has deeper blacks, but I personally attribute that the fact that it has a semi-glossy screen, which gives the appearance of deeper blacks. The Sony has a matte screen, which I think is a positive because it reduces glare, which is why I went for an LCD instead of plasma. I can't really find any draw-backs about this T.V. except it is a little pricey, but it is deffinatley worth it. The XBR4 also has a better Motion Enhancer/Stabalizer feature (Motion Flow) than other companies, Samsung's Motion Plus doesn't clean up the picture quite as much as the Sony. Much of the time though, I keep the feature off. I use the T.V. for gaming as well, with an XBOX 360, and the XBR4 performs beautifully. I've never had any jittery problems or clouds on the T.V. Just make sure it is in a well ventilated area, I've heard that is what causes clouds. Overall, in my opinion, this set is well worth the money, and you can find many good prices here on eBay. If your looking for something a litle cheaper with good quality, check out Sony's S3000 Series, it's a great T.V. with good picture if your on a budget. I've bought a T.V. (not the XBR4, but a Sony 40S3000) from 'Beyond Plasma' and they are a pretty good outfit and reasonable all around, plus they include shipping insurance in the shipping cost which was nice.
