Sony BDP-S360 DVD Player

The BDP-S360's design strikes a nice balance between the glitzy (some would say tacky) gloss of Samsung's players and the more conservative approach of Panasonic's players. The front panel is dark and translucent, giving it a glasslike look. When opening the disc tray, the entire front panel actually flips down, similar to the Samsung BD-P1600's design, but we found Sony's implementation less clunky. We also appreciated the BDP-S360's small footprint, a slim 16.9 inches wide by 2.2 inches high and 8.1 inches deep.

I usually don't have much to say about the design of a Blu-ray player's back panel, but the BDP-S360's unusual USB port is worth pointing out. The port is recessed into the unit, surrounded by black plastic, and the small opening won't accommodate some of the fatter USB thumbdrives you might have lying around.

The included remote has a great layout and simple design, but there's one fatal flaw: it lacks an open/close button for the disc tray. We're not quite sure how this oversight managed to get past Sony, but if you're used to popping open the disc tray before you get off the couch to change discs, you'll find it as frustrating as we did. Of course, you can always opt for a quality universal remote to get around this issue, as the BDP-S360 is capable of receiving an open/close IR command.

The BDP-S360 uses an adaptation of Sony's XMB user interface, which is now featured on nearly all Sony products with a video output. Not everybody is a fan of the layout, but we tend to like it and had no problems zipping around the BDP-S360's menus. If you're not used to Sony's XMB interface, it's not quite as intuitive as, say, the large icons on the LG BD370's menu system, but the learning curve isn't steep. Aside from the graphics, the BDP-S360 has a polished feel that surpasses other Blu-ray players we've tested. We enjoyed little touches like the screen fading to black when you stop a movie, and how quickly the player navigates Blu-ray Disc menus.

This player not only reproduces excellent BluRay video, but is also compatible with every other kind of format I use. Iy will play CD's with MP3 music, playbac DVD+/- disks and reproduce extraordinary video out of normal DVD's. And the best thing is that it does all this for a fraction of the cost of other players.

I found a good deal on eBay and was very happy to get this item. I had a really hard time with my previous (Memorex) Blu-Ray player which was very hard to update; in fact I never succeeded in the update. This one is already up to date so far and seems to be easy to connect to a computer for updates as needed in the future. I got it to go with our new Sony Bravia TV, and I believe I made the best decision.

Good name. Well rated. Great specs. Upgradable if specs change in the future. Connect to your network for upgrades or you can down load movies. Increase memory by adding a memory stick.

excellent audio and video quality, easy remote control operation, beautifully finished, hard acseso to the flash drive, considering it is a hi-definition, should include in the box the HDMI cable

Makes normal DVD's look 100% better, not just BD. I would buy again any day. This player is simple, sleek and well designed. Some say it takes forever to load the disk but it really doesn't take that long.

For the amount of money I had to spend on the blu-ray player I could not have got a better deal anywhere. I have had no problems at all and am very impressed with the quality of the product.

I did alot of research and I was concerned based on some feedback from people who have purchesed this HD DVD player... though after using it now for 3 weeks Im very happy with my purchase!

I like the size, I love the picture, I dislike features that are missing that are present on other players for the same price. From and Ebay standpoint, I can't complain about what isn't there, because I didn't pay full retail price. However in the stores, this item is as much and more as others with less perks, like netflix and things of that sort. I believe Sony believes it can give less because of their name, but that is catching up to them. Great player though, and it benefited, that my A/V Receiver is Sony as well.

I bought the new BDP-S360 DVD Player two weeks ago and was immediately impressed with the number of features available on this inexpensive DVD Player. It was so light weight that I thought I had bought a lesser quality unit than expected and glad I was wrong. I highly recommend this DVD Player for Blue Ray enthusiasts if you're looking for one in a reasonable price range. Works really beautifull with a 1080P or higher video display and it just reproduces superbly on my 52" Flat Screen. Hook up was really easy and trouble free. Thanks for engineering such a great product.

Great, great, great. Those are the words that describe this product. Sony was always in the game when it comes to electronics and this product delivers again. Would buy it again.

I love it. It's light, quiet, and does a great job. Prety quick on getting firmware updates as well when hooked up online. Would reccommend to anyone.

I have it in 480p mode, and the pic quality is excellent. I do not have a TV that can test the 1080p mode.

Why go to the store, it was delivered to my house very fast, double boxed, and in perfect shape brand new in a sealed box. I let all my friends know about the incredible deal I was given.

i got the 360 sony blu ray via ups, poorly packed, no bubble wrap or packing material, upon opening box it did not work and called sony repair sent to them and they replace many parts. several weeks later i recieved back from sony repair and it works great now. probably was not seller's fault, but his seller should learn how to properly pack expensive electronic gear.

This Blue Ray player meets with my expectations. I have not had a chance to review all the instructions for this player but it does what I purchased it for and that is to watch HD DVD at a reasonable price. I am an average Joe the Plumber type guy and it works for me.

MOST OF THE MOVIES ARE BLU RAY, SO I DECIDED TO BUY A BLU-RAY PLAYER. I HAVE ONLY USED IT ONCE SO, I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW I LIKE THE PLAYER. aFTER I BOUGHT THE BLU-RAY I HAD TO BUY A HDMI CABLE.
