Sony AVD S50ES 5.1 channel 500 Watt Receiver

The Sony ES line products are great quality and this unit is no exception. It does everything well. The surround sound is awesome. The digital drive amplifier makes sure of that with plenty of clean clear power. Great channel separation and plenty of low end and volume. This unit decodes all sources that you feed into it. DVD's, Dolby Digital from High Def broadcasts via the Digital In input, and even regular cable broadcasts using Dolby Pro Logic. All decoding works VERY well. My unit likes very clean disks. Sometimes when a dvd is a little dirty (movie rentals) it has trouble reading it and will tell you it is having trouble. After this disk is cleaned there are no problems.

With the Auto Decoding feature it always knows what type of signal you are feeding it and the best way to decode it. The unit also has DTS decoding for DVDs containing DTS surround. Select DTS from the DVD's set-up and hang on! DTS sounds even better than Dolby Digital and this receiver plays it to perfection. Wow! This DVD receiver makes everything sound great. Movies, HD shows, Sporting events, Concerts, and all your favorite shows. Because it has such great sound make sure you only hook it up a high quality surround speaker system. I am using a Bose Acoustimass 6 III speaker system and they work great together. Great, great sound! If you are looking to build a home theater system this unit will serve as a great centerpiece.
