Movie Description The funny pair decide to attend a fraternal convention without telling their wives.
| Credits | | Cast: | Charley Chase, Oliver Hardy, Stan Laurel |
Notes The film was released theatrically as "Sons of the Desert." It was released in the UK as "Fraternally Yours."
The plot of "Sons of the Desert" is quite similar to that of "We Faw Down," a 1928 two-reel short Laurel and Hardy did for Hal Roach.
The comedy team reportedly took time off from the movie's filming so they could appear in MGM's "Hollywood Party."
Patsy Kelly was originally slated to play Betty Laurel.
Additional cast: Charita (Lead Hula Dancer); Charley Young, William Gillespie, Charles McAvoy, Al Thompson, Eddie Baker, Jimmy Aubrey, Chet Brandenburg and Don Brodie (Sons of the Desert Coterie); Ernie Alexander and Sam Lufkin (Waiters); Baldwin Cooke (Man who Introduces Steamship Official/Extra at the Sons's Convention); Stanley Blystone (Brawny Speakeasy Manager); Pat Harmon (Doorman); and Robert Cummings (Extra During Steamship Radiogram Scene).
Additional credits: Frank Terry (additional dialogue); Dave Bennett (dance director); Harry Baker (recording engineer); and Ty Parvis (song performer of "Honolulu Baby").
Nena Quartaro, Lillian Moore and Brooks Benedict also acted in the film but their parts were cut from the final release print.
Extras in the movie included members of the Glendale American Legion post's drill team, the Hollywood American Legion and the Santa Monica branch of the Elks Lodge.
Frank Terry, who wrote additional dialogue for the movie, also wrote the anthem of the Sons of the Desert. The same anthem is used by the international Laurel and Hardy fan club, Sons of the Desert, which was founded during the 1960s by Orson Bean, Al Kilgore, John McCabe, Chuck McCann and John Municino. Stan Laurel gave his approval for the club.
Although Glenn Tryon was slated to assist Frank Craven with the story, his exact contribution remains unknown.
