Album Notes Personnel includes: Brian Eno, John Cale, Roger Eno, Daniel Lanois, Jah Wobble. Includes a 96-page book of interviews and essays in Italian and English. SONORA PORTRAITS is a 96-page book with accompanying CD commissioned by the Italian label Materiali Sonori. The handsomely packaged and elegantly designed book contains essays by and about (and interviews with) Brian Eno by Arturo Stalteri, Claudio Chianura, Fabio Martini, and Adelio Fuse, along with a detailed Eno chronology and many previously unpublished photographs. The accompanying 13-track CD contains a broad overview of Eno's '90s instrumental and ambient work, including pieces from MUSIC FOR FILMS III, THE DROP, and the Jah Wobble dub collaboration SPINNER. There is also a small handful of rarer pieces, including an excerpt from the extended composition NEROLI and an interesting, lengthy interview with Eno in which he explains many of his ideas with self-effacing humor. SONORA PORTRAITS is a fascinating look at a fascinating artist that suffers only from its necessary limitations of space.
