The Song Remain The Same (Soundtrack) Two Thumbs Way Up

An awsome collection of live songs, recorded during what was arguably one of Zeppelin's best performances. All songs were recorded live in a concert at Madison Square Garden. The crowd was clearly pleased by listening to their not stop chanting, cheers and applause. This CD includes what was probably the longest version of Dazed and Confused that they ever performed, totaling over 26 minutes long. Without a doubt this CD contains my favorite version of Stairway to Heaven that they ever performed. As you may know Zeppelin was famous for improvising all of their live performances so that no two would sound exactly alike, and Jimmy Page (Lead Guitar) is certainly the master at directing the whole band when it come to improvising on this album as well as other performances. Robert Plant (Vocals) throws in some excellent boogie woggie lyrics in Whole Lotta Love with a nice medley as they usually do with that song. John Bonham (Drums)was certainly at his best in Mobey Dick, in what is primarily a drum solo song, he actually plays a good portion of the song with his bare hands, symbols and all!!! John Paul Jones (base guitar) and (keyboards) is in the zone in a very good way during No Quarter, but also give much credit to Page with some tremendous work and a totally awsome guitar solo in this song.
I could go on and on about this album, but hearing is believing, so I say without a doubt thumbs up for any Zeppelin Fan and this album should turn any one on the edge into a true Zeppelin Fan.
Thanks for reading, hope this was helpful!!!

Familiar songs, but with altered delivery from the studio albums. I have the studio albums as well and enjoy the enjoy the modified lyrics and extended jams. Well worth the purchase to get more Zep.

An exceptional classic.
A seminal work melding psychodelic, blues and classical orchestral composition.
The origional sound is a favorite.

The perfect Zeppelin album of all time!
Review created: 10/08/08

This is the true Zeppelin experiace album that is good to just kick back and listen to the the best rock and roll band of all time. Yea, I'd skip the movie aswell as the music is what were really after! I love this band, and consider them my most favorite. I was only a 11-12 year old kid at the high of their carreer, but now can only re-live what was and may never be again.....Enjoy!

I have both the Song Remains the Same DVD, and the Song Remains the Same CD. Save yourself a great deal of $$$, and rent the DVD once. Skip through all the psychodelic special effects, and watch the band play live on the stage. Skip everything else, and go straight to the Dazed and Confused track, and watch Page work wonders. Then skip ahead to the Moby Dick section, and watch the band walk off the stage while Bonham goes to work. Everything else was just a distraction from the outstanding soundtrack... The CD has some missing tracks, but that is the least of the concerns if you are a Led Zeppelin fan. This album has the best overall mix of the best songs from the band.
