The Sonatec NP-99 is finished with a metal fleck paint that sparkles in the sun. This is a very good wood, but not a game improvement club. It will be your best friend when you on or treat you like a red headed step child when you aren't. When you hit the sweet spot it really goes, and goes. Better out of the fairway or off the tee than out of the rough.

 SONARTEC NP-99 4w 17*
Review created: 08/03/06

This is a super club with super distance and super control. Easy to hit from the fairway or rough, and super long off the tee. Was looking for a 215-225 yd club since I'm not strong enough to hit my Sonartec 21* md hybrid that far (200-210). By golly, I found it. Sonartec is the secret of golf. If you want to hit the ball, straight, long, and enjoy the solid but smooth feel of the club when it impacts the ball... Sonartec is for you. Who doesn't want to do all of those things. I've replaced all my woods (except driver) with a Sonartec and two of my irons with a Sonartec Md hybrid. If you can luck out and get these clubs for under $100 on ebay, it's a steal!!!

 Better than SS 1.5, 2.5 & 3.5!
Review created: 12/02/06

This club comes standard with a higher end stock shaft (Aldila NV). And, unless you need more height (balloning!) or have really slooow club head speed, the >junk< Tour Platform shafts that come as the stock shaft in newer 2.5's & 3.5's just don't perform as well!. My suggestion for people buying the newer 2.5 & 3.5 is to >immediately< go out and reshaft them to a good shaft > I find they work MUCH BETTER w/ UST Proforce or Proforce V2 shafts!

All my NP-99's have the superior Aldila NV-85 Tour shafts in them and perform like high-end race cars. Comparing this head to the 1.5 (Tour issue only and not available to public), the 1.5 is somewhat more forgiving, but produces more of a >draw bias< ball flight. This can be useful, but I still prefer the NP-99's overall as they are more >neutral< weighted.

Please note: My handicap index is a +3.6, thus I speak from a better player's point of view.

 Sonartec NP-99 Four Wood

A favorite on tour despite the company's low profile. Flat out performs, but mid to high handicappers shouldn't expect a huge amount of help on poor swings. Very rewarding when hit well.

 Sonartec NP-99 Fairway

Great set up,feel and distance. This club is very long and straight both off the tee and from the fairway, great NV shaft also> I already had the NP 99 5 wood. There is nothing I don't like about this club period! A club made for better players but also has a fair amount of forgiveness.

The best fairway wood and hybrids you can swing!
Review created: 11/09/09

I have currently in my bag,a Sonartec 3 wood, and two Sonartec hybrids-- a 19* and a 21* My 3 wood is a SS 3.5, which is the deep face club, but I did have an NP for a while. Just wanted to see if it was better for me than my SS 3.5.

The NP is a real players club. The one I had was a 15* with the stock Aldila NV shaft-- a particular fav of Nick Price. That shaft is supposed to be a low launching shaft but for me it was quite high. I'm a 5 handicap, and a high ball hitter. Nothing wrong with the head--just wrong shaft for me.

I ended up staying with my SS 3.5/stock Fuji Tour Platform in it. It's a real sweetclub. Very long. Very solid. My buddy bought one after trying it for week.

If you don't know Sonartec-- you need to. Nothing better.

Sonartec NP-99 Fairway Wood Golf Club

This is my second purchase of a Sonartec club. My first was with the ss-03 model 16 degree lofted 4 wood with the NV-65 stiff shaft in which I could consistently hit 265yds all day long. Every now and then I would really catch one for 280. If this is any indication of the type of club Sonartec makes, I'm looking for great play out of my new np-99 3 wood which is supposed to be a definite upgrade.

 Sonartec NP-99 Fairway Woods
Review created: 02/04/07
by:

I have both the 3- and the 5-fairway clubs. They are top quality in appearance and in construction. They have regular flex shafts and evidently they fit my swing, because I am able to make solid contact with them more frequently than with other fairway woods (metals)I have played. The "toe-weight/heel-weight" design to increase MOI must work, too, for my mishits are more likely to be acceptable. As with any club, one needs to get the other variables (weight, swingweight, shaft flex, length) correct, but the NP-99 will be a pleasure to own and to use.
