Sometimes a Great Notion (VHS, 1994)

I really like this movie. I haven't seen it since I was a kid. The problem is that it was a copy and it does not have a clear picture. Everything looked new in the ad and in the VHS I received. I should have shopped around. There was even a note for me to adjust the tracking manually, for a clearer picture. I didn't want to give the seller a negitive feedback because that would have missed up my own 100% feedback score. Thanks for asking . . .

I like the movie for it's great scenery,incredible star lineup,and the fact it is a movie the whole family can set down and watch together. I dislike the fact it can oly be purchased on VHS,not DVD. I bought this movie on EBAY after shopping for it a long time and being unable to find it locally.

I bought this movie for the chain saw scenes (recommended by others at Arborist Site). I really liked the classic 70's look and feel to the movie. Probably a little lacking in real movie terms but overall a movie I could watch again. Unfortunately the copy I bought has some "technical issues" near the end making it difficult to watch.

We are a logging family and this movie depicts the logging world very well. This movie is a piece of history. All my kids like the movie & they each have a copy. I was the last to buy this movie. It was hard to find a copy of this movie for under $25.00. This movie was also filmed not far from where my kids grew up.

This movie was actually known under two names, Sometimes a Great Notion, and Never Give an Inch. This is a movie of a Family of "MEN" back when that word meant something. These where not guys in touch with their "Feminine side". A family owned logging company that is bound to their word to deliver their logs/at odds with their neighbors who are "on strike" with the town logging company. The senery in the movie is outstanding, and the view of "strong family" can't help but make you remember "the day". Dad's take your son to see this movie, and when Paul Newman raises Henry Fonda's hand in triumph at the end of the movie, he will have a better knowledge of what being a man is all about.

it was a great movie. If you have read the book, it didnt come close to it, mainly it just focused on a very small part of it. However, the part it did portray was well done, especially for paul newmans directorial debut. Though, if you loved the book, I would recommend not seeing the movie.

my nephew has been looking for this movie for a long time and when i saw it on ebay i bought it for him for a christmas present. it will be a surprise, he hasn't seen it yet. but i am sure he will just love it.my only dilike is that i don't know if it is viewable.

This is a wonderful movie, its one you buy to keep for ever. I owned it once and lent it out and it never returned. I never dreamed I would ever find it again.
It has peter fonda, and a lot of other great actors it has a very good meaning about family. If you like logging the old fashion way. I really recommend you watch this.
