Synopsis
Good-girl New York attorney Rachel has her world turned upside down when, at the end of a drunken 30th birthday bash, she sleeps with her college friend Dex--who is also her best-friend's fiancé. She's shocked at what she's done, and even more shocked when her feelings for Dex continue to grow. Emily Giffin's debut novel became a bestselling splash on its release in 2005, and marked Giffin as one of the standout stars in the overcrowded chick-lit genre. What sets SOMETHING BORROWED above the rest is Giffin's pitch-perfect blend of high melodrama with wonderfully three-dimensional characters, and complicated, morally-tricky solutions to crises of the heart.

      Something GREAT about Something Borrowed

I recently read Something Borrowed on the advice of my sister. As an avid 'chick lit' reader, I have to say I absolutely LOVED this book as well as it's follow up (which I also reviewed) Something Blue! This book keeps you reading until the very end. It is easy to relate to Rachel and Darcy if you have ever had a best friend. They make you laugh and cry alike throught the course of the book. This book also has a few unexpected twists that will leave you wondering 'why didn't I see that coming?' Overall a great read! Definitely pick this up in conjunction with Something Blue for a night of great reading.
I really love Emily's style of writing. She has this quality of making each page entertaining, unlike so many authors today. Her characters and situations are real and are easy to relate to. Emily creates so many emotions throughout her novels, including making you feel guilty for ever doing anything bad to your best friend. You will be picking up the phone and calling her/him by the end of the book! Don't start this book unless you have time to finish it because you won't want to put it down!
