Some Hearts by Carrie Underwood (CD, Nov-2005, Arista Records USA)

The formula seems foolproof: Take a country-leaning, photogenic "American Idol" winner, team her with A-list Music Row producers, secure a few Diane Warren songs and an instant country diva is born. Underwood is more than up to the challenge, nailing slow-burn country midtempos like "Wasted" and "The Night Before (Life Goes On)" with personality and serious vocal chops. The single "Jesus, Take the Wheel" is a gentle showcase of her vocal power, and she transcends the faux-rock material on Warren's "Lessons Learned" and "Some Hearts." Underwood shows a bluesy edge on "Before He Cheats" and "We're Young and Beautiful," and wails impressively on piano-based ballads like "Starts With Goodbye." She may have a nice platform to kick off her career, but ultimately Underwood will be a star because of her own considerable talents.

I didn't have very high expectations for her first CD but WOW, was I wrong! There are numerous HIT songs on the this album. My daughter and I especially like the song about the cheating boyfriend and the use of a louieville slugger and a set of car keys :)

There aren't many CD's I would actually turn on the REPEAT feature of my cd player, but I do with this cd. Carrie is AWESOME!

Can this girl sing, or what!!! I absolutely LOVE this CD. She is truly an American Idol in my book. Every girl should listen to "Before He Cheats" and take it to heart!! The entire CD is full of soulful ballads and future country hits.

We can all see now why we voted for Carrie on Idol last season. Her voice is amazing and the pure talent is shown with songs like Jesus Take the Wheel.I am a southern belle and grew up listening to the likes of Reba, Dolly and Loretta.I rank Carrie and her new album up with these greats. I am sure we will see more of her in the future and I see country Music Nominations coming to her.

I am extremely picky about albums, usually finding that there two or three songs that are decent on any given album. I love this CD! This album has SO MANY good songs on it-- I have EIGHT personal favorite songs on this album and others are good too!

The sound is country/pop, and it's a great sound, not too country, not too pop, if you know what I mean . . . This CD is fully worth every dollar. It is on repeat on my computer.

It is amazing that this is her first CD. The quality of the music is absolutely amazing. There are songs that touch your soul like Jesus Take The Wheel, and Don't Forget To Remember. A powerful start and a great addition to any country fans library.

Carrie Underwood did a great job on her first album.I think this is the best debut album from an american idol contestant.I also think that Carrie will be successful as Kelly Clarkson in the future.The songs that I like from this album are her #1 single Jesus,take the wheels (which spent 6 weeks at #1 on the billboard country chart);Don't forget to Remember Me; Before He Cheats;Starts with Goodbye; and Wasted.Great Album!

Really good Music! Well done, even though I am not a real country music fan. Carrie has an outstanding voice that comes through in several of the songs. Highly recommended.

This CD is one of few that I can listen to from beginning to end and not get tired of it. Although those who may be looking for more pop songs will have to look elsewhere, country fans with a rock edge will rejoice in this amazing CD. I can't pick a favorite song on the album because they all are amazing. I bought this CD to see if Carrie would hold up to the hype AFTER idol. I was nothing but impressed by her talent. I can't wait for her to put out a 2nd album :)

Songs are of the country gendre, leaning towards Pop. "Jesus, Take the Wheel" is easily the best song in the album.

The songs showcase Carrie's vocal talent, and even if you don't love country music, if you enjoy good singing, you'll enjoy this CD.

This is a fine cd, I am sure almost everyone has heard Jesus take the wheel, but the rest of the tracks on this cd are well worth a listen to. I found this CD to be a bit uplifting and just what I needed. I really ejoy Carrie's voice and was thrilled when she won American Idol. she was well deserved of this win. This cd should putto rest any rumor that American Idols are one shot wonders. Very fine work . well played. very enjoyable.

This CD is great. First, I was a little skeptical when Carrie Underwood's CD came out in what seemed like record time after her American Idol win. However it is proving to be a fantastic CD. The song Jesus Take the Wheel, makes me turn the radio up and sing every time but then so does Don't Forget to Remember Me and the Next Time He Cheats. Jesus Take the Wheel isn't so much a religious song as it is a stop and take stock of what it is going on in our life song. Don't Forget to Remember Me brings me back to when I first left home. Of course my situation was different but the bills were mine and I know I told my family I was fine even when I was eating peanut butter and bread sandwiches for every meal. The song I Ain't in Checotah Anymore lets us see a side of Carrie that may not come out in other songs. It is also a play on word for We're not in Kansas Anymore. It is cute and catchy. My final pick for this album was The Next Time He Cheats. Wow! That is a powerful song with lots of irony. It is also a complete turn around from some of her other songs. It just gives her more dimension. First, she is young, sweet, and sexy and then she shows that she has some backbone too! This album is a total product. The voice is there, the range is there, and the song choices are just ...'sweet'!

I am a huge fan of country music and Carrie Underwood does it right! This is her critically acclaimed album that won her a several CMA's this past year! This CD doesn't have a bad song on it and would make a great addition to any library. My wife really enjoys this CD, however there are some sad songs on here that may jerk a few tears! You have BEEN WARNED!

I am from Oklahoma, too, but Carrie Underwood's Some Hearts CD is excellent. Nobody would have pooh-poohed her sincerity if she had been Loretta Lynn singing these songs at Carrie's age. One can certainly have gone through some serious heartbreak, jealousy, childbirth, etc. at 18 or 19. I have listened to this CD over and over, and feel that every song is good. I do have my favorites, however. If you listen to this CD and Bo's, there is no comparison. There isn't even one good song on his CD. This shows America once again picked the right person for AI. The only mistake America made was when Clay wasn't picked. Carrie, with your voice and personality, you will be around for many, many years. Can't wait for the next CD.

Last Years "American Idol" winner Carrie Underwood delivers a solid performance throughout this album. Favorites include: "Wasted", "The Night Before (Life Goes On)", "Jesus, Take the Wheel", "Lessons Learned", "Some Hearts.", "Before He Cheats" and "We're Young and Beautiful". Carrie is a great singer and a joy to listen to. A class act.

LOVED HER ON A.I. !!! I knew the first song she ever sang was going to be HUGE !!!!!! I knew the same about Kelly Clarkson. They give you goose bumps.
It is a blessing to see BOTH stars doing their thing. I just knew they would both go beyond words.
I love Carries ..... "REMEMBER ME" with a son graduating this year, I am very emotional, and this song fit perfectly. I cry every damn time I listn to it.

I love this CD, all the songs are great & Upbeat.Number 7 is my favorite song,makes you want to sing along. Carrie underwood is a very talented singer/performer. I would recommend her to anyone,anytime,Anywhere. You should buy her CD

MUST HAVE ~

I feel Carrie is really a great singer. I just dont like some of the songs that she has recorded. she needs to find better songsto record. American Idol did real good discovering her. its just to bad that she dont have a real good producer to pick her songs that she records. theres also a lot of good singers that appear on American idol but they sing the wrong songs to fit there voice. like the blonde that just got thrown off american idol she was like Lorrie Morgan if she would of stayed country she probally would of ended up winning the contest. the producers of this show should let each singer sing about 20 songs then pick all the songs for them to sing on each show, another thin I would like to add some of the people on american idol should be made to cut there hair before they appear on the show, maybe the producers will read this.

When I bought this album I didn't know what to expect!!! When I first listened to the album, I then knew the reason why Carrie Underwood was picked as the 2005 American Idol!!! The power behind the Carries voice on this CD just have you hooked from the first song to the last!! Some of the songs have a more country/pop sound which I love!!!!! Over all just a great CD, has songs that you can relate to which is aplus!!!

I would just like to say that I have been to Walmart to try buying this CD and everytime I go in there it is sold out. I believe in Ebay 100%. I still have this CD in on of my CD players. I love the dong"Before He Cheats". I strongly recommend this CD jto anyone who is a diehard country music fan.

I love this CD. The music is wonderful - this is a feel good CD. I like Country music but even if you're not a country music lover, you'll love this CD. Really nice songs. I wanted Carrie Underwood to win on American Idol. She always was the best on that particular year.

Im not a big country fan nore am I a big fan of american idol. But I must say Carrie Underwoods perforamnce with there songs were spectacular.
